Feeling safe and wanted again – Chapter 6

    Chapter Six

The elevator ride and the walk to the room are made in silence. Once inside, Bette walks into the bedroom and sets down the suitcases. She walks back and finds Tina standing barely inside the room, holding Evan close.

“Come here, take a seat.” Bette says as she’s motion her arm towards the couch. She takes a seat and waits for Tina. “How are you feeling?” Bette asks.

    “Overwhelmed.” Tina simply replies.

“I can understand that. A lot has happened today.” Bette says.

“Why are you helping me?” Tina asks softly.

“Firstly because I saw how lonely you were, I saw it in your eyes. The pain you’re feeling isn’t only because of the abuse. I see a lot of bad things in my line of work. Mostly I investigate killings. Everywhere I try to prevent that from happening. I’ve seen domestic abuse end badly.
Something about you, made me want to talk to you. I did recognize you from a picture that Megan showed me of her class a while back. And also because of the way Megan looks up to you, how you are a great role model for your students. And I liked you the moment I saw you.” Bette says softly.

Tina sits there with tears rolling down her cheek. There’s a knock on the door. Bette stands up.

“It’s probably Evan’s bed. I’ll get it.” Bette says as she walks over and opens the door.

“Here Ms. Porter, the crib as you ordered with blankets and accessories. You need help setting it up?” The young man asks.

“Oh, I think I can manage, thank you.” Bette smiles and then closes the door. She carries the crib into the bedroom, and a few minutes later she walks into the sitting room.

“The bed is up, you can put him down if you want.” Bette says as she takes a seat on the couch again.

“Thank you, I’ll be right back.” Tina replies as she stands up and walks into the bedroom, to get Evan to bed.

A few minutes later, Tina walks back in and takes a seat.

“So, you know a lot about me, but I don’t know much about you.” Tina states.

“What do you want to know?” Bette asks softly, looking at Tina.

    1. I’m behind on my reading so I’m going to repeat what I said earlier! I think you need to write a a good reason for Tina to move to Nashville! Please!! I love the direction your story is taking….I hope there is no loophole that will let Eric loose to cause more shit in Tina, Evan, and to some degree Bette’s life! Thank you for updating so frequently!

    2. You made my afternoon by posting again- thank you! Bless Tina’s little heart – I can’t imagine what she’s feeling; even I feel a little overwhelmed at the enormity of what is facing her. Ditto Vegas’ plan – get thee to Nashville!

    3. Good to see that Tina is not pushing Bette away and having second thoughts about reaching out for help. Also Tina should move back to LA and Bette’s job is transferable as well.

    4. Tina should have waited for Bette to come over before going down to breakfast. She doesn’t know if eric was able to bond out early or not. And it won’t matter to him where he is if he is of a mind to start trouble. She needs to get the hell out of town. Thanks for posting.
