    Fire and Ice Chapter 25

    April 1999

Tina rode in silence, her hand resting in her chin, eyes staring out the window placidly.  The light bumps gently tossled her from side to side as she focused on the horizon of the breathtaking California night lights.

Tina couldn’t believe how the night had manifested…first, her fiery reunion with Bette Porter, then suddenly, finding herself on the sidewalk of the brunette’s art gallery in tears after having cut ties with Eric.  Now she was being whisked away on her own accord, courtesy of Bette’s own limo and chaffeur.

She had wanted to stay…she really did.  But something warned her not to return to the gallery…her instincts were good to her, and she chose to obey them once again on this night.  She had to have time to deal with things as they were now; adding to the equation could be disastrous.

Despite the tumultuous events that had transpired, Tina’s mind continued to wander back to the moment in Bette’s office, right before Alice had barged in.  Bette had held her gaze so gently, so much desire flowing between their bodies…Tina felt like Bette had been holding her very soul…

"Ms. Tina, right?" Louie called out, shaking her back to reality.

"OH, yeah.  It’s Tina…you’re Louie…right?" Tina replied, not really in the mood to maintain polite conversation.

"Yes m’am I am" Louie flowed, nodding his head.  "Listen, if you’re thirsty, Bette’s got a couple of bottles of champagne on ice…just lift the tray there…help yourself…" Louie pointed behind his head, his eyes locked to the road.

"Oh, I really couldn’t…she doesn’t even know I’m…" Tina cut her admission curtly, feeling like a caught intruder.

"What? That she doesn’t know you’re using her limo?  Please, girl.  Alice P. knows that lady better than anybody, and if Alice P. says it’s all good, then it’s all good…Relax…" The timbre of Louie’s voice reminded Tina of Mr. T.  She had to laugh…what an odd pairing Bette and her driver were.

Suddenly, the obscure sound of loud beeps filled the car.  Tina grabbed ahold of the armrest, mildly alarmed but more so baffled.

    "What is that?" She cringed.

"Oh, sorry, that’s the car phone…" Louie stammered as he steered with one hand, the other patting down the empty passenger seat.  His searched ended not a moment too soon…Tina was about to plug her ears shut to muffle to anxiety producing noise.

    1. Wow, I think I need a drink of that champagne. These two don’t even have to be in the same place and you can still feel the heat between them. You are doing such a great job with this story Fire…see you tomorrow!

    2. I’m with Bailey…Maybe the bubbly will loosen Tina up a little and she’ll ask Louie to take her to Bette’s house or at least back to the gallery. Still loving this incredibly romantic tale. Thanks!!

    3. Louie definitely needs to occupy Tina for a few hours – until Bette can join her. Or maybe just a drive to Bette’s house… This is so GOOD. I can’t wait to see where you take the story next…

    4. just what tina needs to relax a bit some bubbly and music… she should just drive around a while, maybe she’ll fall asleep and louie will go get bette and take them back to bette’s house!! :)PPS

    5. loooove that song (can’t decide tho which version i like best… Joan Armatrading’s or Melissa Etheridge’s) mmmmm, Bette’s house… *that’d be good* ;) btw: loved how you depicted Louie! and how you connected the chaps and filled some gaps… thanks! ps: get well soon!

    6. so sorry you are sick……but on the selfish side I was hoping for about 5 more pages…this story is keeping me on hooked. Maybe I need a bottle.
