Chapter 21
My first day on the Oncology unit was very sobering. As we rounded and got to hear about the patients of the floor, they all made me think of Dana in some way. There were patients with a wide variety of cancers. So many people were in reverse isolation in their room, meaning it wasn’t them that could cause an infection to us, but it was us that could potentially infect them in their state of severely compromised immunity. At each door was the usual warning to gown, glove and mask before entering in. I was particularly sensitive to this given Dana’s condition. I was super diligent about this but I noticed nurses and occasionally the house keeping staff walking in a room without the usual protective gear. On more than one occasion, I gave a lecture on the importance of infection control to any of the offenders I caught. I didn’t care if they were just going in for a short period. I became the self-appointed, infection control police for the Oncology unit that month. By the end of the month, I found no one taking privilege of the “I was just going in there for a short period” excuse. Under this circumstance, Dr Peabody working in the Peabody Clinic has its advantage to encourage compliance.
Our attending for the month, Dr Marina Ferrer, was a sultry, sexy, pleasant visual distraction to the illness that surrounded us. I would be lost in looking at her and listening to her voice, so much that I actually didn’t hear much of what she was saying. She seemed to have that affect on men and lesbians and knew that she did. She handled it with tremendous smoothness and grace. She would just smile at me and ask when I snapped out of my daze, “Helena, would you like me to repeat that?”
I had never blushed so much in my life. I found I was so intimidated by her. I’d been with many women but there was something about her that made me feel like I had a lot to learn. She was also Dana’s personal attending for her chemo. She apparently had the same affect on Dana. Alice would tease, “Why do you think Dana keeps coming back for more chemo.”

I really have to catch up on my comments for this story..sorry i haven’t been posting any..ok so loving this one by the way don’t think I have truly enjoyed a Helena centric story before..its likes greys anatomy but way hotter…I mean seriously besides MacDreamy who is only semi hot who else on the show is “non of the ladies” ok so that one Isabelle was hot in Knocked Up but that it…anyway I am getting off course here..This story has so many possibilities. Nice of you to write in Dana battle even if she succumbs (WHICH I HOPE DESPERATELY DOES NOT HAPPEN) at least you have captured the fight. I am eager to see the combination possibilities..Lara/Helena (i like to see that explored) and becoming fond of Helena/Carmen…maybe just a nice roll in the hay threesome Tina/Bette/Helena.. I mean someone has to bring Bette out of the shell.. I can’t except that she is straight in this one..Love how you have plugged in Peggy, Tasha, Marina etc…So keep posting my friend. BTW if I never read about the sex lives of Henry, Phyllis, Jenny, and/or Shane (sorry ladies I just don’t get the Shane Train) then i would be totally satisfied. LOL.. PPS
Helena is totally self-absorbed. Why is Bette a definite no? No chance or will Helena have to work too hard to seduce Dr. P.????

I agree with Azmama…what’s up with Bette being a definite “No”? She was looking like a potential candidate in the not so distant past. I wonder where Helena’s libido will lead her with a stranger hook-up? I’m starting to worry about the girl…she’s really looking like she needs a visit with Dan.

Hey there S, had to catch up cause I was busy and cause I had to get myself a new laptop seems I had wayyyy too many virues and don’t know I got them, it was cheaper to buy a new one that have them removed,,LOL. Didn’t feel like using my iPhone as well, and I was tired from work too. Now after giving you all of these excuses just thought that maybe Helena is starting to wake up and see that there is a life outhere and that she finally knows how to treat Carmen if she wanted her friendship to remain. We shall see who will cross Helena’s path of life and loves….great chapters S!
