    “We’ll be fine Bette. It’s really not that much when you consider I will only work by appointment. We’re closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Maria will be here full time every day to answer the phone, check email and collect and respond to US mail. I have James on speed dial in case anything comes up that I can’t handle. Don’t worry. Enjoy your vacation, your birthday and your holidays. We will be so busy once we have the grand opening in January that you’re going to be grateful to have this down time.”

    “You’re so right. I’ll leave you to it then.” Bette starts to pack up her things when Kristen notices the small gift wrapped box on her desk.

    “Is that Act XIV?” She asked. Bette had made her privy to the 17 Acts of Love and Kindness that she’d gifted Tina on her last birthday. As intended, it was a gift that kept on giving.

    “Yes it is.” Bette answered, fingering the box.

    “How are you going to deliver this one?” Kris asked as she was intrigued whenever Bette planned one of her surprises for Tina.

    “This one is going to take a lot of coordinating and help from you and my friends but I think I can pull it off. However it’ll probably be a couple of days before you’ll play your part.”

    “Well we’ll be ready. What are you doing for your birthday?”

    “I’m not sure what Tina has in mind. All she would tell me is that we’re doing something Italian.”

    “Well I’m sure it’ll be very special. Angelica must be thrilled to be spending her first family Christmas with both of you in the same house.”

    “She is. It’s actually her second, but she was only four months old for the first one. Christmas has always been one of the hardest times for us. Tina and I always tried to make it special for her. We spent a lot of time together but eventually one of us would leave and go home alone. This year she will wake up and both of us will be there to greet her on Christmas morning. I can’t wait. Well I better get going. Thank you for being so great about me taking this time off. We’ll be ready to hit the ground running come January. I really appreciate you Kris. I hope you and your family have a great holiday.”

    4. This was one of the best chapters to this story! In my opinion! Even though I love the whole story! I’m sad to see the end tomorrow:( I’m just looking forward to the next phrase of their lives. Off to eat me some strawberry shortcake that I made. PPS
