    Forged in Fire: Chapter 8

Chris Anderson nodded. “It has been. Though Kaitlyn has shown up at my office. And she stopped by The Porter Gallery to visit Bette.”

Christina met her sister’s gaze, finding a stubborn pride in Kaitlyn’s eyes. “Well, it seems like my persistence has paid off. It finally got you here.”

The smile Chris gave was bitter.

And though she didn’t take any joy from this inevitable meeting, she was glad to finally clear the air once and for all.

“About that,” she began, and the smile faded into a subtle frown.

Her brows knitted and her look was firm, stern.

There was no place in her new world for the disease that was her family. In her mind, she replayed her day with Bette at Chaikentown. Making love and spending the day together had bonded them ever more closely. There was no way Tina would allow anyone to disturb what they were building. There was no place for them in the peaceful bubble she as carving out with Bette.

In a voice laced with inner darkness, she said “Don’t you ever try to get to me through Bette. Don’t you ever visit her at work or come by the home we share. Don’t talk to her. Don’t call her or email her. She’s off-limits to you. If you even think about approaching her, there will be hell to pay.”

Kaitlyn looked at her incredulously. This was not at all what she’d been expecting. When Tina had called and proposed this brunch, she’d assumed her younger sister was extending an olive branch; not planning an assault. Kaitlyn could see the fire in her sister’s hazel eyes. A level of anger and fury she’d never seen before.

Had Christina come all this way to lay threats at their feet?

“What?” asked Kaitlyn.  “Are you – – – are you threatening me?”

Chris Anderson shook her head. “No. Not at all. I’m making you a promise. I’m promising you that if you so much as breathe in her direction, I will end you. Your father tried to kill her. Is that not enough? Has his black mark of madness and control not done enough damage? Her sister is still in rehab. He killed her wife. Stay the hell away from Bette!”

    1. No need in name calling now MTS “creeping random gents” lol.. JK. And I did not Tech-shamed you. .. You already had it and I just open the blinds Ok I’ll go read now. I like it when Tina is feisty. at least its and R which means it going to lead up to something Right?

    2. Good Chapter….. I think that I would have pointed out that if that car accident had happened the way Dad planned it, that it could have been Tina who was dead and Bette in rehab. Would it have made any difference that dear old dad killed his daughter to save her from a sinful life? And why would he kill Henry? What is the justification for killing Henry?

I still cannot see why a fear of “messing up” Dylan would have kept Kit from seeing her son. He may not have needed therapy had he seen that she was no longer in a comma but gradually getting better. Six months is a long time to keep a child away especially when there is no real reason to do so. People do better dealing with what is, than what their imagination brings about. He had already seen her at her absolute worst, so seeing her on the mend would only be a positive. So they will finally be reunited. Hooray!

Thanks for this chapter.. Look forward to more.

    3. Thank you for this chapter!

I don’t agree with Tina about her family – yeah, with her hypocritical mother she is definitely not ready to make a peace, but with her sister? I don’t know but seems that they could find some common ground. If her sister will accept Tina’s relationship – maybe Tina could give her another chance.

And i agree – time for Dylan to see his mother

    4. Hi MTS,

I can’t hide anymore, especially after your request to be friends with me ????

I have read this story from the beginning and it is fantastic. I still have to catch up with the other stories.

      Thank you!

    5. I like this determined and no-nonsense Tina, eh, Chris. Straight to the point, out with the truth.
I don’t know what reality Sis Kait and Ma Kennard live in. But if even this terrible crime commited by Pa Kennard isn’t enough to at least change their tune to “live and let live” and be ashamed of what he did to Tina and the people in her life, Tina shouldn’t waste another word.

Kaitlyn might be irritated by her mother’s religious tunes but she also dismisses Tina’s love for women as something like a pastime. I think I remember some strange comments from Kaitlyn at a family dinner (in your last book).
Anyway I don’t believe that she wants to spend time with Tina. She only wants to make sure that the money from the family business keeps coming.

Great moment at the hospital with Kit. I’d say it did wonders to both Kit and Tina. Looking forward to Dylan’s visit to his mother.
Now I’m anxiously waiting for Tina to return home to Bette and tell her about both meetings.

      Thank you for posting!

      • Hey Kiwi…stop reading my thoughts!! Tina returning home to Bette is exactly the focus of the next chapter!

And I agree. Sometimes you have to cut off those people that drain your joy. You might mend things later, but people should heal first.
