    Part 1

Tina and Shane sat outside The Planet, drinking hot coffee and watching people passing by.

Have you seen Bette lately? Tina asked.

    Shane shook her head. You?

No, and Im not sure I even want to.

Shane nodded. You got to sometime.

Why? Anger flared in Tinas eyes. She fucked everything up, she made the mess, now she can lie it in alone!

    Tina..

No! Please lets talk about something else. Im not ready to talk about her.

Shane was too good a friend to point out that it was Tina herself that brought Bette up.

If you want to talk about something else, a sharp female voice interrupted. Then you could tell me where I can find Marina.

Francesca? Shane quickly recovered from the surprise of seeing Marina ex-lover at The Planet. I thought you were out of the country?

As you can see, Im not. Now where do I find Marina?

At home? Tina suggested nervously. She had always found Francesca a little bit scary.

No, Francesca sounded angry. And she havent been there for days. She gestured at The Planet. And her staff havent talked to her in at least week. No one seems to know where she is. She stared accusingly at Shane, including a rapidly uncomfortable Tina in the fierce gaze.

    Francesca, Marina is a grown.

Dont Francesca me, Shane! Francesca dismissed what she obviously thought was the beginning of a lame excuse. Ive tried to get Marina to understand for years, but she refused to listen. The gang, as she so lovingly put it, couldnt care less about her, except appreciate her exotic looks, great *****, exceptional free coffee and her willingness to open up The Planet whenever the gang ask her to. None of you care enough about her to really include her in your wonderful cozy little family. Damn it, Shane, I thought better of you! Marina has probably been missing for over a week and none of you have noticed? How often is Marina away from The Planet? Unannounced? In all the years you have known her?

Never, Shane muttered, suddenly feeling very guilty.

Francesca snorted mockingly. Some friends! She angrily turned around and left two very rattled so-called friends of Marina behind.

I really hate to say this, Tina whispered. But she got some very valid points there.

Shane nodded. Francesca may be a ***** most of the time, but sometimes she sees things crystal clear.

And she obviously still cares for Marina. I never really understood their relationship, though. Tina shivered a little. It seemed very twisted from an outside view.

Maybe she and Jenny made up? Shane suggested hopefully. ***** happily away in that toolshed or something? You havent seen her around the place?

Tina considered this. I havent been home since she swallowed hard. So Marina could easily be at Jennys without me noticing it.

Shane touched her hand softly. Sorry, I knew that. I wasnt thinking.

Tina shrugged the grief off and smiled bravely. Come on, lets find Marina.

    Part 2

Shane and Tina stood outside Jennys shed, hesitating to knock on the door. The curtains hid if there was someone inside. Tina leaned forward, sharpening her ears.
I think someone is moaning in there, she whispered.

See! Shane smiled. Bet thats Marina making Jenny feel like shes the luckiest woman on the planet. She caught Tina staring at her. What?

Tina hid a grin. Nothing. Maybe we shouldnt disturb them, then? she suggested hopefully, not really wanting to see Marina doing to Jenny was she obviously was so damn good at.

When the door opened Shane almost fainted in surprise and Tina was seconds away from wetting her pants AND throw up at Jennys doorstep. An equally surprised Robin almost ran them over.

Shane recovered first. Hi, Robin, is Jenny in?

Robin smiled. Hi you two, go right in. Sorry I have to run. Im a bit late. Honey, you have visitors. See you tonight! She waved at Shane and Tina and hurried out to her car.

Hi guys, Jenny smiled at them. What are you doing here? She looked shyly at Tina. Are you back home? I havent seen you and Bette for awhile.

Tina stiffened. No uhm, we are actually here to see you.

Bette disappeared, too? Shane blurted out without thinking. And I have missed that, too? Man, and I call myself a friend!

    Who disappeared? Jenny asked concerned.

Shane hesitated before answering. We cant seem to locate Marina. You havent seen her, have you?

Jennys pale eyes turned icy at the mention of her former lover. I havent seen her since the opening of Provocations, and I really dont care where the ***** she is.

Tinas thoughts were running wild. Bette hadnt been home for a while. Was she with Candace now? Making love without ever wanting to stop. Oh, God, Tina remembered how those first weeks, ***** first YEARS had been, swept up in a passion shed never felt before. Maybe Candace was feeling like that now That thought hurt like a kick to the throat and it almost choked her.

Didnt she have a cabin somewhere? Shane wondered out loud. She talked about a place up in the hills. Damn, why didnt I listen more carefully?

I know where it is, Jenny said reluctantly. She took me there one afternoon just before she cut herself off before she had a chance to remember more about the disaster of her relationship with Marina than she wanted to.

Im going up there, Shane said, her voice determined.

Are you sure thats a good idea? Tina asked. She may want to be alone.

    No, Francesca is right.

Francesca?! Jenny practically spat the name out.

Shane ignored her. This isnt like Marina, something is wrong, and were her friends. She shook her head in dismay. Or at least we are supposed to be, now its time to act like it.

Tina sighed. Youre right. She turned to Jenny. Do you have an address?

No, Jenny whispered as in pain. But I know where it is.
