    Found – part 13

    Found – part 13

Shane pulled up in front of Anas cottage at 9 oclock Saturday morning. Dressed more casually than usual (less rock star more slacker), she was ready to work. Though not one to seek after physical activity other than *****, Shane found she was actually looking forward to mucking about in the garden. It must be the company, she realized with a smile.

Her player ways were famous in the West Hollywood ***** community, but lately Shane found herself hankering to settle down into a more stable relationship. Maybe it was Bette and Tinas example”maybe Shane had been bitten by Tinas pregnancy nesting instinct”or maybe it was simply that Shane was lonely.

Dismissing thoughts much too serious for nine in the morning, Shane stepped out of her truck and called out. Hey, anybody home?

Anas laugh floated over the shrubs, followed by a happy Shane! Poking her head around the too-tall shrubs, Ana smiled at the sight of Shane standing, hands in pockets, looking adorably sure of herself. Come on around.

Strolling over to the driveway, Shane whistled at the sight before her. Ana had had sacks of river rock, stacks of paving stone, bags of landscaping sand, flats of flowers, and pots of plants delivered, all waiting to be arranged into a beautiful garden. UmmNeed some help? Shane asked with a grin.

Ana stood with her hands on her hips, looking at all the materials laid out in front of them. With a rueful smile, she looked sideways at Shane. Ya think I might be a little ambitious?

Uhyeah, Shane agreed with a chuckle. But this place will rock when were done.

We? I like the sound of that. Misery loves company and all that, right? Ana and Shane shared a laugh, each remembering how easy she found the others company.

Between moving and gardening, they were certainly establishing that they worked well together, Shane reflected, surprising herself at the observation. She was much more used to noticing how a woman filled out her jeans than how competently she spread sand. What the heck?

By early afternoon, the pair had trimmed the shrubs delineating the garden area, pruning them back from their wild and bushy state. They had also grubbed out the weeds and thorns that had infested the shadier corners of the yard, and had filled the back of Shanes truck with yard waste to be hauled to the dump.
