    Chapter 114 – Starting to Unravel

     

    “What do you have?” Tina asks.

     

    “I’ve got who’s behind this, now all I have to do is find
    the proof but that shouldn’t be too hard. 
    I mean how many times have you ever seen an editorial get through and
    into print as anonymous?” Alice
    points out.

     

    “What are you talking about Alice? 
    Who do you think it is?” Bette demands tight lipped.  She was not about to let Alice turn this into a circus.

     

    “It’s Helena  I mean
    it’s just got to be.” Alice
    declares.  Seeing that she had everyone’s
    attention Alice
    launches into her explanation.  “Who else
    has the money to do what she has done? 
    First she hires a free lance writer that ***** Jacqueline Parry to write
    those editorials.  I knew there was
    something about them.  When Shane
    mentioned what she over heard it just clicked. 
    I have had the displeasure of examining her work before.  She’ll do anything for money.  The perfect accomplice for someone like Helena.  I took Shane to see a picture of Jacqueline
    from the press room and Shane confirms she is the one she overheard last night.  Jacqueline wrote those editorials, all three
    of them and I bet she will be only too happy to confirm it.”

    “Secondly someone has to have a lot of pull to get an
    anonymous editorial printed.  It’s just
    not done unless the way has been paved with some sort of strings or cash.”

    “Third who has an axe to grind against Bette and is willing
    to distort the truth to inflict as much pain as possible?” Alice looks to each of their faces as she
    goes through her explanation now that she is to the conclusion they all say
    simultaneously

     

    “Helena Peabody”

     

    Just as Alice
    was coming to her conclusion, Kit returns with two lattes on a service
    tray.  Hearing everyone say Helena‘s name made Kit
    furious.  “If that haunty ***** is behind
    hurting my sister then I think we need to teach her a lesson.  You don’t mess with a Porter that way and get
    away with it.  That woman needs to learn
    you mess around with us you end up getting dirt on yourself!” Kit says with
    authority and to make her point she slams the tray on the table top.  Kit slams the tray down with a little more
    force than she intended.  The froth from
    both lattes flies up in the air and onto Kit’s face giving her that white foamy
    look.

     

    The sound of the tray hitting the table gets everyone’s
    attention all eyes were on Kit.  As
    everyone looks at Kit, it’s quiet amongst all the girls. 

     

    “Wow Kit you look a little ***** whipped.” Shane finally
    says breaking the silence.

     

    As Kit glares at Shane, Dana comes running into the Planet
    “What have I missed . What have I missed?”

    6. Great post Jwet, I guess Alice nose finally caomes in handy, now to get sloid proof. Kit pussy whipped—funny, real funny. I agree with Kit because Helena will never learn unless she is taught a lesson. First the pictures and now this, she really has Bette on the brain. I hope that she is so incensed that she will trip herself up. I know that Bette knows that the pictures were doctored, but she needs to make a bigger slip. As much as Tina is going to be happy when she finds out that Bette was there when Anna was born, Helena will be PISSED to the same degree (if not worst) when she finds out. She might even go after Dr. Wilson. Looking foward to your next post.

    7. I love the interaction between Bette and Tina, the love and support they have for each other. I love how Tina can make Bette see that Alice is not the writer of the damaging editorials. And she’s probably the only who can do that at this point in time.

      OK. So, they’ve now figured out who’s behind the slanderous editorials. What will they do now? Why does Alice think that Jacqueline Parry “will be only too happy to confirm” that she wrote all the editorials? Wouldn’t Helena have taken care of that somehow? Or is it because if Jacqueline Parry can be paid to write those articles, she can be bought to tell all? But somehow, I don’t that’s the route the girls should take. That would make them stoop to Helena’s level. I’m sure Alice “the snooping reporter” Pieszecki will dig up all she can on Helena’s efforts (and don’t forget the file she has on Helena, of course).
      As Kit said, “You don’t mess with a Porter that way and get away with it. That woman needs to learn you mess around with us you end up getting dirt on yourself”. Kit slamming the tray on the table and getting the latte froth on herself was kind of true to her own words…LOL.

    8. oh yes, obi-wan will come through, don’t forget, he sacrificed himself to save the republic! As this chapter shows, Alice already connected the ‘dots’….and even showtime says Helena is a backstabber.

      Any chance of getting another post today/tomorrow? Pretty please?

Helena is the only enemy they have and the only low enough to do such thing?..i hope they make a really awesome plan to get Helena´s ass..payback is a bith and her name is Bette porter..lol..another great chapter post soon J thanks :o)

    18. Sorry for not posting comments on your last chapter. I have been having ‘issues’ posting comments. I post them, it says they’re there, but alas…they don’t post. Hopefully, this will take.

      The words “I have an idea” coming from Alice should would strike terror in the heartiest of souls. Shane was a real trooper to even go with Alice, much less get in the car with her.

      The way you described Alice’s driving was an absolute riot! I could feel Shane’s panic. Somehow, that’s just exactly the way I would picture Alice driving.

      It’s always tough for a great day to go sour. I felt sorry for Bette as she left the CAC. But at least she listened to Shane and calmed down, listened to Jack and apologized. She’s still the new and improved Bette, she just had a minor setback.

      Bette and Tina are each other’s lighthouse in rocky waters. They find each other and feel safe. It’s always amazing to me how something as simple as an embrace can make the world fall away.

      However, when Bette and Tina are talking about just ‘who would do such a thing’ I was thinking – “these are bright intelligent women…can they not figure out it’s Helena, I mean c’mon”. Sometimes I guess it’s not always a plain as the nose on your face.

      Once again, thank goodness for Alice. She arrives like the calvary charging over the hill. Finally, she has managed to redeem herself…at least with me, she has. That girl has got some mad sleuthing skills, I tell ya.

      Helena is in for a mighty big surprise, I’m guessing. Money may buy you favors, but it can also make you stupid. Oh, how the mighty will fall.

      Great chapter. You are slowly hiking up the suspense with each chapter. It’s like watching the trailers to a really good movie. We know it’s going to be a blockbuster and we are going to have front row seats. Yippee!!

    19. I thought she should be place on a bonfire, sheared like a roasted pig when she showed those nude pictures of a pregnant Tina. Now, I think she should be locked in a room and left to her own company for eternity. Surely, she will drive herself crazy.
