    Chapter 84 – Protecting My Family

    “Huh?” Alice
    says as she looks up and immediately turns red and looks guilty of committing a
    crime. “Huh .. I .. well I was just looking through some of Bette’s things.” Alice now says nervously
    as she knows she has been caught red handed.

     

    “Bette’s stuff.” Tina says as she looks down at hundreds of
    pictures of herself and Anna.  Pictures
    of her pregnant, pictures of her with Helena,
    pictures of her and Anna.  Pictures of
    her doing everyday things, at the grocery store, coming from the doctors going
    out to dinner.  As Tina looks at all
    these pictures she realizes these where all taken after their divorce.  As this realization hits her Tina begins to
    tear up.

     

    Alice
    sees the tears and thinks that Tina is getting upset with Bette for having all
    these pictures.  “Tina I’m so sorry.  I shouldn’t have gotten into these.” Alice says as she watches
    Tina squat down and finger the pictures. 
    “Tina are you mad?”

     

    With that question Tina looks up to Alice, shaking her head “Oh God no.  Alice
    this is how Bette kept me, kept us close. 
    This just shows how much Bette loves us.” Tina says with a loving voice.

     

    “Huh?’ was all Alice
    could say.

     

     

    84 – Protecting My Family

     

    Shane was still laughing at Alice‘s antics a good time later as Dana
    continued regaling some of the details which stuck with her.  “I can’t even believe she went to the grocery
    store in that condition.” Dana states.

     

    “So what kind of stuff did Alice get you, I mean was any of it even
    healthy?” Irene asks in an innocent way that makes Shane laugh even harder.

     

    “Oh I sure it was healthy all right if you can consider
    re-processed and re-hydrated food healthy.” Shane almost couldn’t get this
    out.  “You know . You know” Shane stutters
    now she has to hold her sides “I saw Alice
    at the Planet cleaning out the bake good section the other day.”

     

    “Well that might explain all the stuff, her tastes haven’t
    changed.  I mean we have chips, pretzel,
    and brownies.  Hey have you ever smelled
    what a case of Slim Jims smells like after they have been cooking in your car
    for a few days?” Dana relays going on with the descriptions as she describes the
    details of Alice‘s
    actions. 

     

    As they all began to run out of funny stories to tell at Alice‘s expense, Dana finally turned to everyone “You know
    Tina has been quite a while with Alice.  I guess I better go in there and help get her
    back out here.” With that Dana starts to get up.

    2. I liked the way Bette handled Alice. Bette is such a tigeress when it comes to her family – I love it! When does Tina find out that Bette was there when Anna was born?

    6. Bette wants protect her family and what she says to Alice is right. And to see Bette and Tina talk so easily is the best thing. Thank you for this another great chapter.

    7. I think that Tina was okay with all of the pictures, because deep down inside she really needed to know that Bette always had and always would love her. That sort of obession without contact of some sort boarders more on an inability to let go rather than stalking, IMHO.

      I can’t quite decide whether or not it’s personality or pathology regarding Alice and her inability to control her impulses. She’s standing on shaky ground with Bette at the moment. She’d be best served to have someone else act as her proxy in all matters concerning Bette and Tina.

      I was actually waiting for Bette to tell Alice “…or you’ll be swimming with the fishes” when she was laying her out for snooping. Porter The Protector is NOT someone you want to mess with. Her quietly uttered ultimatum to Alice was menacing and sexy cool at the same time. Yeah…sexy cool – uh, I think I need a cigarette now. Or a nap.

      I like Bette questioning whether or not they need the information that Alice discovered. Shows real growth for Bette. But I still think that she should error on the side of caution and have it ready to fire off in retaliation to whatever salvo Helena is planning…and you know she is.

      First-rate chapter as always. Nice blend of touching, teasing and tension. I enjoy your posts so much!

    9. Great update, I just was able to read the last four chapters, due to my travelling I cant acces as often. And I´m not sorry for Alice she had it coming, I think Bette was soft on her :-), but glad she got the picture.
      I guess the last secret Bette has to tell Tina is she being in Anna´s birth.

    11. I agree with Narcosis. Bette with an edge is alluring. You write her as someone who has such passion for the things she cares about. When something she cares about is threatened, oh the possibilities.

    17. be still my heart. i could actually feel alices fright. hellno needs to be brought down, by bette. after all she is protecting her family. tina was very understanding. i think she knew just how overwhelming distraught bette was. please dont use this against them. but yoy writers are the freaking drama queens here. who knows what youll have our girls doing. lol this was excellent as usual. soon please.

    18. Great chapter, I loved the way that Bette handled Alice. Bette is totally right, Alice was sooooooo out of line going thru her stuff like that. Niosey or not Alice needed to be put in check. Alice is this very niosy reporter type but, she should know where to draw the line when it comes to friends and family. This is one line that she does not want to cross with Bette. I love how Tina is toche by the pictures and look foward to the time when Bette tells her that she was there for Anna’s birth. Yeah, some more Tibette loving, Irene may want to leave the house that night, Ha ha. I am loving your treatment of this story, PLEASE continue.

    19. “But I have to admit it’s a little unnerving to realize that you had all these taken and I knew nothing about it.” Tina confesses. Whoa, is that an understatement or what? I’m glad Tina saw it as an expression of love though. I’m not sure all objects of such affection would be so generous in their assessment of a similar situation.

      I like how Alice is deadly afraid of “quiet” Bette. I can totally see how Alice can handle the screaming, stamping and cussing Bette! I would have chills down my back too with a quiet Bette.

      I want to be patient, but this story is so good! More, more, more!

Hey JWET, I’m finally home…woo-hoo…caught up with your oh so famous story once more and I’m still so in love with it…awesome chapter…poor Alice…she kind of deserved it though…Bette handle the situation very well I think…Tina is so wonderful…I’m glad that she understood the true meaning of those pictures and understood Bette’s love for her and Anna within every photo…loved it Jwet, thank you so very much!!!

      Classic is an over-used word but one that this masterpiece fully merits.
      The give and take between Bette and Tina shows just how far each of them has come and how much they are now prepared to listen first and react second. The way you have instilled Tina with a sense of purpose and forgiveness makes my heart melt. The way you have given Bette the courage to divulge her imperfections to Tina makes my spirit soar.
      The Mama bear reaction of Bette to Alice’s inference was brilliantly calculated and realized. While it won’t stop Alice’s innate reporter instincts, it may temper them and make her pause and reassess her options.
      Looks like revenge will be a dish best served cold for Helena and so well justified.
      You are the sculptor; the empty page your block of marble; words and phrase your chisel and hammer and talent your molding and shaping. The sum of these parts far outweighs the individual items.
      Thank you for taking time to give us all a little of your genius and brighten our days.
      Questions that have arisen include:
      Was Alice prepared to be Bette’s punching bag as Bette the Basher reappears? Will Dana design Alice’s Spandex costume? Will Shane do her hair? Were the rest of the gang up at the patio doors with glasses listening it? Does Kit’s Chilli come with a health warning and a roll of toilet paper?
      I love this tall tale and always read it and then smile and grin for the rest of the day as I mentally replay each scene.

    25. Thanks Jwet, that was a nice exchange between Tina and Bette. Can’t wait for Bette to let her know about the rest of her “little secret.” I think it is tyme for Tina to find out. It would warm her heart to know Bette was there for her and Anna from the very beginning.
