“Al…I love you.” Going pale Shane promptly began to kiss Alice.
“Wait…Shane…” Alice tried to speak but her words came out muffled against Shane’s lips. Finally breaking away from the awkward sloppy kiss, Al pushed Shane into the couch. “Shane…wait.” Looking into the pleading green eyes, a fleeting stab of guilt washed over her. In reality Alice wanted nothing more than to take Shane into her arms and forget everyone else in the world. Still, what if Shane was just drunk and treating her as if she was a common one-night-stand, she couldn’t bare to be cast aside so easily…especially from Shane.
“Shane…You do know it’s me…Right?”
A quizzical look passed Shane’s frowning features. “I love you Alice.” She gripped the blonde lightly and studied her face. A sudden fear overcame her, what if Alice didn’t love her? That would explain why she was acting so put off.
A lump rose in the journalist throat. She wanted so desperately to say those very words back to the woman before her. If only Shane was sober, and Alice was sure that she wouldn’t forget everything that happened tonight or even worse; remember and end up regretting it.
“Please say something…” Never in her entire life had Shane sobered up so quickly. Her heart thumped in her chest, threatening to burst out. Her stomach was lurching and churning but it had nothing to do with the alcohol.
Swallowing the lump and taking a deep breath, Alice stared into the emerald eyes before her. “I…I want you to remember me tomorrow…I want to say I love you…” She cast her eyes downward. “I want you to remember me.”
Shane lifted the blonde’s chin and searched her eyes pleadingly. “I could never forget you Al. You mean the world to me.” Liquid courage was coursing through her veins. “I love you.”
Alice pulled Shane to her lips sending shock waves throughout their bodies. They fell to the floor bodily holding onto each other for dear life. The older woman ignored the foul taste of alcohol lingering on the younger woman’s tongue as she forced all her feelings and emotions into the kiss, sending a warm aching feeling throughout them both.
