Ghost of Christmas Past Chapter 6
Ghost of Christmas Past Chapter 6
Alice took Dana’s hand and sat her on the couch. She then sat down and put legs across Dana’s lap, like it was the most normal thing to do. Of course it used to be normal, that simple gesture of closeness that Alice had always taken for granted. Now it was something she so desperately needed, to touch Dana.
She was still having doubts about this night. How could she not? She’s spent the last few hours with the love of her life, who happened to be dead, going back in time and reliving life. She couldn’t really fault herself for having a few doubts about her own sanity. But the way she looked it at was this, if she really is losing her mind, the worst that will happen is she’s making herself happy before they take her off to the nut house. So when she weighed her options, she was going to enjoy this all she could. She would sit on the couch with her legs on Dana, for a moment giving her some true solace and happiness.
“OK, Dane, you said we end tonight with a Q and A session, so that means I get to ask questions, right?”
Before Dana could answer, Alice started a barrage of questions.
“So ok, here we go, how exactly are you here? What do you mean they told you that it gets better, but you need to make peace here first? And you really need to explain that letter to me? What’s it like in heaven? Is there pizza?”
“Whoa, whoa, Al, slow down. One question at a time.” Dana laughed. “I’ll start with why I’m here. OK?” To which Alice simply nodded.
“So, remember I told you that I looked in on you a bit and that I was here and could hear you when you spoke to me. Well that was where this started. A few nights ago, you were really upset and said something that made me so sad, that I commented aloud about wishing I could say something that you could actually hear, something that would ease your pain. That was when I was brought to the classroom.”
“Wait, a few days ago? Was that the night I came in from dinner with Helena and talked to you about her kids?”

Thanks for the update, Lucia! So glad to hear there is more “Drowning” on the way. I agree with HD (as I usually do) — good job putting some humor in with the drama. Poor Alice. I’m so sad for her thinking she wasn’t worthy of a visit and that she was so stoic prior to breaking down. I’m not sure what, if anything, Dana can say to make it better. Can’t wait for the next chapter. Thanks!!
Lucia, I love this chapter even though it is extremely sad given the fact that D had passed on. “It was the most significant of both” friend and lover that really got to me. I totally agree with A about what exactly is going to change, still alone and D still dead. In reality, I still have a hard time accepting Dana is gone forever even though she was just a fictional character. *Sigh* I can’t wait to hear what D would say to A to convince her otherwise. I am glad that you added some humor to this.”Is there pizza?” hahahaaa, and “reading the weather report.” I am also very excited to hear that you will update “Drowning.” That is one incredible story and I have been looking forward to “round two” and it is definitely worth the wait. Thank you Lucia.
