    Ghosts of the Six-Year Void

Bette drapes an arm over the back of Tina’s chair, leaning forward so her voice carries. Her eyes sparkle with excitement. “So… we actually have news of our own….”

Tina leans in closer to Bette as she also looks around the table. “We’re moving in together….”

A cheer rises around the table.

Dana’s eyes light up. “Nice, who’s moving in with whom?”

Bette straightens, pride swelling inside her. “We’re gonna look for a new place…fresh start…”

    Everyone gasps and applauds.

Kit smiles. “It’s about damn time you two pulled that trigger….” She lifts her water glass in a mock toast.

Carmen echoes her gesture with her wine. “I second that!”

Shane tips her beer in a casual salute. “Congrats, guys.”

“Thank you…” Bette murmurs, drawing Tina close. They share a soft, lingering kiss before settling back into their chairs.

Alice leans forward, eyes gleaming. “So, we’re getting a pool again, right? That’s definitely on the list?”

“Plus, space for the kids to run and play…” Kit says.

Mickey, perched on his booster seat, throws his arms skyward. “Pool!” he shouts.

Angie, beside him, waves both hands. “And my soccer net!”

Bette and Tina exchange a fond look as the younger ones argue over backyard amenities. The lovers slip into their own little bubble, leaning together, their hands brushing as they watch the family’s excited chatter.

“So, how far are you guys in the process? Do you have any prospects yet?” Carmen asks.

Tina keeps her eyes on Bette as she playfully offers her a piece of her cake. “Not really, we’re gonna get the ball rolling within a week or so…right, baby?”

Bette nods. “Yes…” She then leans in and gives Tina a playful kiss on the lips. “May I have some more of your cake?”

Tina smiles and shakes her head. “No, the rest is mine….”

    Bette pouts. “T….”

Tina laughs and shakes her head again as she dives back into her cake. “Don’t, T me, Bette Porter….”

The rest of the gang sits back and watches as Bette and Tina playfully argue about Tina’s dessert.

“They are just too cute…” Carmen says as she swoons over watching Bette playfully nip Tina’s neck, making Tina giggle.

    Comments

    1. Very happy to read a new chapter!

Love how you put Gigi in the story. It was besides Bette and Tina, the gang and Nathalie one of the characters i liked.

Both of them are very possessive of each other, love the term “six-year void”

Michelle, still dumb and arrogant to think Bette will talk to her after all the shit she put her through. I didn’t feel sorry for her at all.

    2. More, please!

Agree with other comments that bringing Gigi/Natalie back to the edges of the main characters was a great idea..

I’ve missed my fix on the best characters. And really love that stories are still being written here 20+ years since they were introduced to us!

      Thanks everyone!!!!
