Chapter 13

***Angelica***

My friendship with Renee is now a year and four months old. Well she says five I say four. And for the past six or seven months shes been sleeping at my house, unknown to my parents of course. Shes been a frequent dinner guest since our tutoring sessions and like a custom, my moms would pack lunch for her too as though she were one of their kids.

Lately her mother gas been drinking a little more than usual and her bed partners has changed on an almost daily basis. One of her partners made a move on Renee and instead of her mother protecting her from him, she beat her for lying. What were her words you are determined to make my life *****. I mean who says that to their own kid. Anyway I made a promise to her to be her whatever and forever friend. When Renee showed up by my window cold and crying there was no choice to make.

After we had dinner, did homework and studied, we would drop her home. Afterward she would sneak back through my window and spend the night. We would wake just as it was getting light and she would go back home to be ready for when we pass by to pick her up to go to school. Good plan so far you would think? I mean its been seven months and no one found out yet. Ever heard of the saying whats done in the dark would soon come to light? well our light came in the form of two very angry mothers.

Bette came in my room very late tonight to get a file I borrowed for a project we were doing on one of her artists. To her surprise who was in my bed with me? Renne. The same friend Tina dropped off a few hours ago.

Tina and I had just settled in bed for the night. I decided to do a little work until I got sleepy and Tina was reading a novel keeping me company. I lent Angelica a file on one of my artist for a project she had for school. I needed the file for some information so I went to her room to get it. I tried to be as quiet as I could. I didnt think I would need the light in her room because the file should be on her desk. I searched but it was not there. I turned the desk lamp on. I heard groans about the light. They were both disoriented so there was no time to hide.
