Previously on Hazed & Confused:
Bette just shrugged off Alice‘s last comment and returned to tapping out the drum solo to Cream’s “White Room” on her steering wheel. Then it happened, a weird feeling washed over her, she was excited. She couldn’t wait for it to be tomorrow, she couldn’t wait to see Tina again. ‘Funny, that’ she thought to herself as she allowed the awesomeness of the day to fully consume her thoughts.
Chapter 5
Bette dropped Alice off making up some bogus excuse about having to fill out Last minute College applications. The truth was Bette did really have applications she hadn’t gotten around to but she just wasn’t in the mood for Alice‘s 20 questions, Al could be such a snoop sometimes. She had no inclination to why she even cared, any other time she would have been more than happy to sit around and flush out her well thought out plan of attack with Alice. But this was different, there was something she liked about Tina and she wanted to handle this one tastefully and we all know Al is anything but. The drive home was surprisingly pleasing; Bette had learned to enjoy her own company at a young age. Growing up as an only child had taught Bette to find comfort in silence. Pulling into her driveway and walking up to the door Bette couldn’t help but to think about the way Tina’s golden strands sweetly kissed her cheek, ‘she smells delicious’ Bette thought. Walking down the heavily decorated hall to her room Bette yelled out “Mom I’m home.” Sitting at her desk she glances at the pitcher closes to her bed. If she thought real hard she could remember that day. It was her 4th birthday the picture displaying an ecstatic young Bette her large brown eyes reflecting all the innocence in the world. Her big sister Kit holding her on her lap and her mother and father looking so happy together, the picture still evoked the same emotion. Bette sighed as she silently wondered where Kit was and how life had been treating her, it had been about 13 years since she last saw her and she still missed her sister just the same. Slowly running her finger across the photo Bette shook away a tear. ‘Never mind thatthere are more pressing matters at hand’ she shrugged attempting to steer clear of her impending depression. “I will have you Ms. Kennard.its just a matter of time.” She declared to an empty room.
