    Heartless: Part of my soul

“Where are you taking me?” I said as I put my hands in front of me. She had tightened the blindfolds so good I couldn’t see a thing.

“Patience is a virtue, my wife,” Bette said in my ear as she pushed me forward, “let me guide you baby.”

“Okay,” I said as I followed Bette’s lead.

“T, do you know what makes up a soul?” Bette said kissing me gently on the cheek,

“I think I knew once,” I answered smiling at the tender gesture.

“The things that make up a soul are three things,” Bette said repeating the gesture on my other cheek as I blushed, “the beautiful things that make our hearts flutter, the passions that fulfill your heart’s desire, and the people and things that make your heart complete.”

“That makes sense,” I said, “if you lose those things than your heart will be incomplete.”

“And if your heart is incomplete?” Bette said.

“Then you become heartless,” I answered with a sigh.

“In the search of the soul, the person loses those people and things,” Bette said, “just remember Jenny! She was searching for her soul and she lost Tim, then Marina, then Carmen. Then she started losing everything that meant anything to her, the respect she gained as a writer, her screenplay.”

“By the time she found her soul, her heart was in shambles,” I said.

“Well, that’s not gonna happen to you,” Bette vowed, “I’m gonna figure what all those things are for you and make sure you don’t lose them.”

“Well,” I said stopping and feeling around for her face. Once I found it, I held it gently and said, “as long as I have you I will always have a part of my soul, and most of my heart.”

I kissed her on the lips and she chuckled as she continued to guide me, “not all of your heart?”

“The rest of my heart belongs to Angelica,” I said giggling.

“Well, guess what?” Bette whispered in my ear sending a shudder down my spine, “Angie and I aren’t going anywhere.”

I felt Bette sitting me down gently area and I felt around curiously, trying to figure out where I was. “Lie down,” Bette whispered pushing my shoulder back gently. When I obeyed her, I felt her releasing the blindfold and I opened my eyes to the pool of black covered by bright stars.
