Chapter 5

After reassuring Angie that Bette was in really good care by Allie and Tina and making her realize that she indeed was tired and it was past her bedtime Tina was able to get Angie to bed. As she closed Angie’s bedroom door Tina rested herself on it and took a deep breath. She still couldn’t believe that Bette was sick. For her it was so difficult to comprehend how someone so healthy and someone who took really good care of herself was in the brink of starting a battle with an enemy that very few were able to beat. Standing straight again and wiping her tears she made the promise to get her ex wife, her daughter, her friends and ever herself that she was going to do everything she could to get Bette thru this alive. Tina walked to the kitchen table were Allie was carefully stitching Bette’s cuts while Bette just sat there with the saddest face Tina had ever seen on her. Tina touched Bette’s shoulder.

Tina: hey, how are you feeling?

Bette: tired, numb.

Tina: you’ll get through this Bette. We’ll all be here for you.

Bette: yeah.

Tina: what time is the appointment tomorrow o should I say today?

Bette: Dr. Robbins didn’t say. She just told me to go to her office I don’t remember if she told me a specific time.

Allie: she makes her rounds early in the morning so any time after ten you’ll find her in her office.

Tina: well then we can go whenever you want Bette.

Bette: we?

Tina: yes we. I told you are not going thru this alone babe. We’ll be here every step of the way.

Allie: Tina’s right Bette, you won’t go thru this alone. If you want me to go with you tomorrow I’ll do something to change my shift at the hospital and I’ll go with you guys. This is your fight I know that but it doesn’t hurt to have friends backing you up.

Bette: …thanks!

Tina: so what do say I make you something light to eat, then you can take a shower and go to sleep in the guest room and we’ll decide in the morning, I mean daylight what we’ll do. Is that ok?
