Bette: “But yet, you’re willing to jump head first into another relationship at 6 months along?”

Tina: “Look, I don’t know where it’s going with Melanie and I. She’s known that from the beginning. I’m not looking for a relationship with anyone right now.”

Bette: “Tina I know you don’t trust me and I know we have issues, but we can pull this thing together. Please don’t do this. I’m willing to change for you. If you want to go to therapy we’ll go. Whatever it is I’ll make it happen, just tell me.”

Tina: “Can you be my friend?”

Bette: “Friend?”

Tina: “Look I know that’s not what you want, but it’s all I have to offer. I’ve been thinking and I do want you in my life…our life in some capacity and hopefully we can work towards more, but I have nothing else to give. I’m willing to start here and try to build something really meaningful with you but it has to start here. If we can be friends then maybe we have a future to look forward to. Can you do that for me?”

Bette: “I don’t know if I can…not if you continue to date her?”

Tina: “I’m not going to stop seeing her. She’s the one that’s here for me right now…if you can’t respect that then obviously you’re not willing to work as hard as you thought you were.”

Bette swallows her pride, “Ok. I can do this for you. But I don’t want her rubbed in my face and I don’t want her along everytime we want to spend some time together.”

Tina walks up to Bette and wraps her arms around Bette’s waist. They hold each other tightly and soak up the feeling of the other. Relishing the touch they have waited so long to feel. Tina buries her face in Bette’s hair and breathes in deeply the scent that is her Bette.

Tina: “Thank you……. I have to go, Bette.” Bette squeezes Tina tighter, “I know. ” Bette pulls their bodies closer and whispers into Tina’s ear, “I’ll be missing you.” Tina pulls away taking Bette’s hand and kissing it. She holds onto it as she turns to walk back into the planet then slowly let’s it fall to Bette’s side as Bette watches her go.
