Jodie called James.
“I am taking a few days off” she said.
Then she left the gallery. She drove back to her sister’s, thankful that the kids were at school. She sat at the kitchen table, staring at the bottle of vodka. Even after three shots she still was fighting her feelings. Marina, the woman she was falling in love with, killed people for a living. That made her scared because that kind of life style came with a price death. It could happen at anytime or anywhere. Marina was a liar, really a complete stranger. The woman she thought she knew was not real, just who she wanted Jodie to see. It made her madder. She drank another shot. How the hell did she end up here again.
“Why do I always fall for women who cause me nothing but heart ache?”
She thought back to the past. She was a junior in college. Dory was the captain of the swim team and every time Jodie hit on her she blew her off. Then one night at a kappa party they talked and Dory agreed to go to lunch with her the next day. Soon they were a couple, things were going great. Taylor was a model. The minute Jodie saw her she wanted her. But she did not want to ruin things with Dory so she kept her distance from Taylor. But one night at a fundraiser for the art department, she fucked Taylor in the coat room. Jodie felt so guilty about cheating on Dory. They were in love but she could not resist Taylor so she kept cheating about 3 months. Dory said that she knew that Jodie had been cheating on her, that it was all over campus and that it had to stop.
“How can you look me in the face, come into my bed and lie to me all the time?”Dory asked.
So Jodie broke up with Taylor. Things were getting back to normal but every time she saw Taylor she was temped. After a month and a half of trying to make it work they broke up.
“I hope when you fall in love the person never lies or cheats on you” Dory said to her.
Jodie poured another shot and crawled into bed.

Good stuff, I think Marina would be more suitable for Jodie and this is a wonderful start! Keep it up and I’ll give you more goodies!
