    “Home” – Chapter 4

    HOME
    Chapter 4

“Good the bastard’s blood is not in the contracts.”

“Damn Marina! You were serious about Miguel not finding out about this.”

“Yeah, deadly serious. He found out the hard way,” I said.

I need the cleaning crew,” SAM said into the phone.

I glanced at my watch nervously, pacing back and forth, feeling the tension in the air.

“Go,” SAM said. “I’ll handle the rest, call me later.”

I agreed to calling later to check in, and left to drive to the bistro. I maneuvered the car through traffic effortlessly and arrived at the Bistro in record time. The drive was typically longer then the 15 minutes it took me, so I allowed a smile to cross my face as I walked inside.

I sat down at a table and politely ordered an iced tea while I waited for Jodie to arrive. I checked my watch once more as she entered the bistro, another 15 minutes had passed, and she greeted with a smile.

    “Hi Marina.”

“Hi yourself,” I shot back. “What hotel are we going to? I’m hoping it’s close by.”

“Is that all you think about?” Jodie asked.

“Have you seen your body?” I whispered in Jodie’s ear. “It’s all I can think about.”

I get up and take hold of Jodie’s hand and walk toward the door.

“I’m taking you for a ride today,” I say with a smile on my face. “I’ll tell Ed we don’t need him and I’ll call him later.”

I step into Jodie’s car excited by the tension in the air.

    “Where are we going?”

“The only clue you’ll get Marina is that I’m taking you to a place where you’ll get very wet and love every second of it,” Jodie purred.

After a short drive, Jodie pulled the car up to a small marina. After she parked the car, we both got out and began walking toward a long dock. She stopped walking long enough to hand her keys to a gentleman that seemed to understand her unspoken directions.

We walked down the dock, our movements making noise as our feet hit the wooden planks. We stopped at a boat that was slightly bobbing in the water. I looked at the name on the back of the boat and in bright paint, the name was proudly displayed. Most boats have names nautical in nature, this one, had a name that stood out. It was simple, the name ‘Dreams’ was not tied to a nautical theme, but a perfect name for a boat nonetheless.
