The next day Dana woke up early in the morning. She looked at her watch. It was just 6am. She did some stretching and went into the kitchen for water. When she came back to the living hall, she looked around. Hmm, maybe I should check on them, she muttered. Then she walked towards Alice’s room and opened the door carefully. She popped her head in and stared at the huge king size bed. She chuckled when she saw Alice spread out all over the bed. She sighed and stared lovingly at the person on the bed. It was just like years before when they were together. Alice would always take up all the spaces leaving her just a little space to squeeze in. Sometimes Alice would mumble something in the middle of the night, nudged her in the process and then continued to sleep. Dana couldn’t believe herself, but it was one of the things she loved about Alice although it annoyed her sometimes. And of course Alice’s bed head was the other thing she loved. How she wished that she could see that bed head every morning. She smiled to herself and closed the door behind her carefully so that she would not wake up the blonde.

Then she proceeded to Chris’ room. She opened the room carefully and popped her head in. She almost laughed at the sight. Chris was as spread out in his bed as his mother. And they had the same bed head. Then she heard Chris mumbled something, scrunched his nose and then continued to sleep. She couldn’t help but to make her way into the room and kneeled beside him. My son, she muttered as she brushed his hair, all smiling. He had the same sleeping demeanour and hair colour as Alice and her own goofy grin, athlete and clumsy demeanour. She sighed. He was like half Alice and half herself. Who is Chris’ father? She had contacted Howie three months ago to ask him whether he had ever donated his sperm to the sperm banks, but he said no. If it’s not Howie, then who? Dana almost cracked her head on that thought. Why is Chris so similar to her? Why did Alice name Chris after both their last names? Is this a mistake? These questions had been playing in Dana’s mind for three whole months; she knew she had to ask sooner or later but she just didn’t know how. After all she didn’t want to fight with the blonde again fearing that it may jeopardize her plans on getting Alice to believe that she would stick around this time. To make her believe that this time was forever. But what if, what if Chris’ identity was a mistake? What if Alice doesn’t want her to be part of them? Arrrghhhh, Dana rubbed her temple. She shook her head and sighed. She smiled weakly to herself and laid the blanket on top of Chris and made her way out to the kitchen to prepare for breakfast.
