Jonathan’s plan was coming together nicely. Everyone was buying his nice guy act. Soon he could serve Tina with court papers. He had seen his little girl on the playground with another little girl and that kept him motivated to save her from the delvil’s cutches her mother. He worked as much as possible to earn enough to fight for his daughter but soon realized that he could never win because of his past, they had too much money. He was filled with rage. 

Jonathan stole two credit cards from a customer and was able to access their bank accounts, got enough money to purchase a cabin. The nearest house was ten miles away. It was perfect for the things he had planed, to have a happy family him and Maggie and his little girl.

Bette was doing her warm-ups. Tonight they were facing Tina’s team for the first time all season. What was on Bette’s mind was not that but she would play Helena . There was a lot of bad blood between them. Coach Stayly wanted to (24-5) snap a three-game skid.

Six players scored in double-figures for Los Angeles . Sidney Spencer added 15 points, Bette and Mwadi cored 14 each, and Christi Thomas 10.

Tina team had (32-4) led 41-32 at halftime and stretched the lead to 66-47 at the end of the third. But Los Helena went on a 13-1 run to begin the fourth quarter. They had no answer for her. But they applied the full court press and got within 75-74 on McWilliams-Franklin’s layup with 39 seconds left.

Tina’s team led throughout the first overtime, much as they did during regulation, before Spencer scored on a driving layup with 24 seconds left to force a second overtime tied at 83.

That one belonged to Bette who put the team on her back who scored the first six points. Peck was 5-of-5 from beyond the arc, and grabbed a key offensive rebound with 13 seconds remaining after teammate Ebony Hoffman missed a 3-pointer. White got the ball in her hands and hit a 3-pointer to give them the win.

The team had no time to be upset about the loss. They got on a plane and headed to the west coast for the next two weeks.

Bette’s roommate for this trip was Barbra Grishisom. She had been in the league two years. Coach was easing her back into the line up. She was making a comeback from a torn ACL. Bette had seen her play a couple of times but didn’t really know her so over dinner they got to know each other.

"What do you do when you’re not playing ball?" asked Bette.

 "I love politics” she laughed.

"What? I am shocked” mocked Bette.

Tina was glad to get the win but against Bette that was the down side. She was looking at the stat sheet for the last couple of games. She was thinking about moving some people around. Her cell phone rang.

 "Hey sis" said Tina.

"Hey Christina. It came through finally. I should be moving there within the next month. I am coming there the day after tomorrow to start looking for a building" she replied.

“That ‘s great Cindy, see you get here”

Tina hung up the phone.

As Cindy sighed the loan papers she thought back to how what she saw Tina go through had shape her wanting to become a self defence teacher, eventually open her own place. When she got home she looked the papers from the bank.
