Chapter 12 C
After waking up, hung-over from her night of heavy drinking, Bette made her way to the shower. The warmth of the water cascaded over her; wetting her hair, washing her face, rinsing away her tears, massaging her body as she contemplated the events of the evening before. She recalled her first shower with Helena, them making love in the shower then washing each other off. She imagined the feel of Helena’s lips, hands, skin and hair as they glided over parts of her body. She recalled the taste of Helena as she licked between her legs bringing her to an orgasm in the shower. She held herself tightly envisioning Helena’s arms around her. Her memories were interrupted with the sound of the phone ring incessantly. As she stumbled out of the shower she grabbed a towel along the way. Picking up the phone she grunted, “Hello”
“Bette, are you okay? What are you doing?”
“I’m taking a shower Alice. Other than this horrible headache, I am fine”
“Where did you go? What did you go last night?”
“I was at home. I waited at Helena’s but she never made it home. I drove around town like an idiot and eventually came home and drank until I fell asleep.
“I’ve been worried about you. You haven’t answered your phone. Shane told me your car was in the driveway but you didn’t answer your phone or your door last night.”
“I was probably passed out.”
“Bette, I was afraid this would happen. I couldn’t believe the sight of you last night. You just looked so…so fucked.”
“I am fucked. Helena won’t see me but of course Phyllis wants to see me first thing tomorrow.”
“Fuck!
“Have you spoken to her?”
“Who Phyllis?”
No, God Alice! Helena, have you spoken to Helena?
“No she isn’t taking any calls.”
“She’s probably with her mother, who I’m so sure has me on the most unwanted list.”
Alice asked softly, “Bette, what happened? How could you?”
As the tears began the stream again, Alice could hear a sobbing Bette, “I don’t know”
“I’m coming over.”
Leaning against a wall, nodding her head, all she could manage was, “Okay”
Bette pulled on a tank shirt and sweatpants. She sat by her pool soaking in the morning sun. Alice let herself in through the back gate and sat next to her friend. She put an arm around Bette and pulled her head to rest on her shoulder.

S the last three chapters were perfect…I liked how Peggy was consoling her daughter and telling her why she sent her away and didnt want her to make the same mistakes as herself. I liked how Al was there to support her friend but also tell her that she made a major mistake and needs to take charge of what she wants and who will the woman be,,,loved it!!
Susannah–I’m surprised you think Alice is being a bad friend. I thought she was being a good friend to smack Bette in the head and tell bette she needs to pull it together. We all need friends like that when we are down and out.
Azmama–Pam is not perfect nobody is. She has suffered quite a bit. Anybody with that history must have some baggage
squirl..it bugs me only because I think Alice is being hypocritical, when she gets on Bette’s ass for screwing up, when she isn’t perfect,and Bette doesn’t judge her. Even when Alice’s screwing around with Bette’s boss directly affected Bette, she never got on Alice’s ass and got all judgmental. I also notice that Alice never ever does the same with Tina..never a word to Tina, no matter what she does, but only instead taking sides with her against Bette. I am sure no one will agree with me, but I have always thought that Alice never forgave Bette for ending their six week thing..she even mentioned it in season 3, and so leaps on every mistake Bette makes,being the very first one to judge and take sides against Bette. I think Shane is a true friend, she tells it like it is but also cares and is non judgmental.

Waiting for an “Alice and TINA talk”, in which Alice, that epitome of virtue herself, having toyed with Phyllis and then threw her away, completely uncaring about her feelings, and cheating on Tonya with Dana, reams Tina’s ass about also being a whore, when she is begging Bette for a quick fuck,and taking advantage of a caring hug to stick her tongue down Bette’s throat,because she “wants Bette back so bad”, even though Bette has been telling her she is with Helena, and then two minutes later it’s all about Pam? Why is it ok with Pam that Tina started it but Bette is bad for not stopping it? I think Alice should just get out of Bette’s life if she is going to treat her like this.
Hello Squirl, well when the dust settles it is nice that the Ex-ex Girlfriend is the one to come around. I don’t think it is because Bette is a sex addict, I think that she is being led by her fears, her fear of losing her daughter… the fear of never finding happiness… the fear of never being loved the way that she loves. I don’t believe that Bette wants anything more to do with Tina then to continue to support and be a part of her daughter life, unfortunately for her Tina is going to be there, the constant reminder of her failure to her “family”. Bette needs to move past this, she needs to realize that one failure doesn’t lead to another unless deep down inside you want it to, it is the fear that is making her sabotage her own happiness. As far as Helena is concerned she really doesn’t have any rights at this moment to deal with Bette, she went into this whole relationship with her eyes open, she let the week pass without even attempting to find out where Bette was, and then when they finally see each other at this party she sees the need in Bette, she realizes who is there and she doesn’t do anything to try and prevent the inevitable from happening, she might as well have said now that I have you turned on and drooling go over into that office with Tina. I’m not saying that Helena should have given into Bette’s needs but she should have pulled Tina aside and put her in her place. Bette needs a smack upside the head, and I don’t think Alice is going to be able to do it alone. Sincerely, JC
Hello again, I don’t think that the pendulum has made it final swing into Bette’s suffering, if Bette really wants to start redeeming herself she should take the small step of fixing her professional life right know, and for that I think that she needs to resign from her current position, she needs to realize that no matter what she does she will never be able to redeem herself completely at work and that is the only comfort she has right know and it is gone. She needs to go into that meeting on Monday morning with letter in hand, apologize for embarrassing the school and in an act of professionalism she steps down. This will be the first step to reclaiming her self-worth, cause when or if she is fired; her downward spiral is going to get worse. When she lost Tina the first time it almost killed her, when she lost Tina, her job and almost her daughter the second time she became unrecognizable. She needs to reclaim herself one step at a time. Tina did not rape Bette…Helena is not to blame for Bette’s weakness she shouldn’t have needed to warn Tina off, Bette should have done that herself & MEANT IT, OH NO that’s right, Bette had not been sexually serviced 2-3 times a day for an entire week so she just could not control her sexual urges!!! Yeah right!!! How male, must be Melvin’s daughter!!!! I don’t agree with Alice mostly except that maybe Ms Porter needs a SEX ADDICTS’support group…I don’t think Bette has any inkling of what ‘her’ problem is and as I said in my last comment no one is to blame for Bette’s present condition but Bette if she doesn’t ‘own’ her stuff and get help rather than living in avoidance & denial by going from relationship to relationship i.e Tina, Candace, Twink, Tina, Nadia, Jodie, Helena, Tina…Get professional help Bette b4 you hurt anymore women and lose Angelica altogether because u r too self-absorbed to be a parent…likewise Helena & Tina need to sort their shit. I’m hoping Pam convinces Tina to walk away from this craziness because this is NOT the Tina we first met in s1…PPS
Wow, great three-parter, Squirl… I think these women need some closure. Tina’s realized Bette wasn’t even there during their session at Phyllis’, Bette realizes that she could have, should have stopped herself, yet didn’t, Helena either needs to get over Bette, or find out what Bette’s issues are and forgive her. Likely forgive Tina too. Pam… I see that she really likes Tina, but what was that flirtation with Helena all about? I’m not entirely sure of what Pam’s motives are, but she’s an interesting character. Right, Squirl, as I said, this was great, thanks for the posts, and if you don’t put another chapter up before then, have a good holiday. Thanks

Yes Bette which woman are you going for? Are you trying too recapture your heart or trying too recesatate an old one. First thing that she needs to do is get her act together. And stop using the accuse of not knowing why you did what you did. Because if she look real hard I’m sure she knows. Because if she is going to try for Helena she has too come at her best and strongiest… Squirl I would like to thank you for these updates. It’s like opening my christmas presents early. It was an excellent gift. But I’m greedy. Merry Christmas to you, your wifey, and your kids who are a blessing itself.

You have a point dark…Bette has to start fixing her professional life. Bette has to think of her job because if she looses it, how can she continue to support her beloved daughter???? since you mentioned her fear of loosing her daughter, did she ever consider this fear before making this mistake, because for sure, She already put her job in jeopardy upon making this stunt w/ her ex inside the university premises.
You’ve developed a very intriguing story. Pam is too perfect. So understanding, so kind. Does such a person really exist? BTW, it’s all believable b/c you write really well. I don’t know if Bette is a sex addict but never thoroughly happy w/what she has. For what ever reason, Bette can’t forget about she and Tina. She wants both of them? Or does she only want them w/o a true commitment? She has a child w/Tina and perhaps can’t not love Tina is a sexual way? I think darkhawkdown has the situation pretty well sorted out. Bette should not be alone in her guilt. There’s plenty to go around. PPS.
Terrific three chapters Squirl. Wow, this story really makes you wonder what the hell everyone is thinking! I’m not sure about Bette. Could it be there she can get so easily bored that she just has to go out and seek something different and exciting to keep her stimulated? I guess if the women she is with are okay with that, then fine. I don’t think she is a sex addict by no means. I think she is searching to find some answers, but not doing it in the most wisest way. I’m not very happy with Tina in this fic right now! GRRRRRR. Excellent writing though. Would love to see more. Tx
See, there you go again….which one will it be? Bette is so f….up! Why can’t she understand she has a problem, admit it, then take care of it. I really don’t believe she needs to be with anyone right now. Matter of fact all three of them, Bette, Helena and Tina need to check themselves first before involving anyone else in their lives.
So Squirl – you’ve been busy writing Bette out of this disaster and so far so good. Now I know whose side I’m on….Alice’s! She is being a great friend right now. She is there to support Bette in her time of need but not without letting her know what a complete sex addicted idiot she was the other night. Alice is 100% right. What happened to the Bette Porter who never gives up and never loses; the Bette Porter who would fight tooth and nail for what she wanted? Time for Bette to WOMAN up, so to speak. At least Alice is seeing the clear picture. Bette was horny and Tina was there, ready to “service” her. It sounds bad, but at least Bette can spin that. At this point it is evident that Helena really does love Bette and that it was her insecurity about Bette’s relationship with Tina that was keeping her from giving herself totally over to Ms. Porter. Given that, I think Helena could possibly come to terms with the fact that it was just meaningless sex. Not so much that Bette f***ed Tina but that Bette probably would have gotten down w/ any available hot female given her state that night. I know I’m rationalizing here, but it would be ten times worse if Bette had been w/ Tina while she was still w/ Helena (sleeping w/ her i mean). I mean then Helena would really need to be worried. Plus, the minute Bette got off she told Tina that it was a huge mistake. And when Tina left that study crying Bette’s only concern was for Helena and what she would think of what Bette had just done. Bette just needs to find Helena and lay on that superb Porter charm and get her to understand that she is controlled by her libido but that as long as Helena comes back to her she will do everything within her power to keep it in her pants going forward. So Helena is going to NY, then Bette needs to follow her there and do whatever it takes to get her woman back. In fact Bette probably needs to enlist Peggy’s help in winning Helena back over. Peggy is thrilled w/ the idea that Helena was thinking about having a child w/ Bette and she can see that her daughter was truly in love (probably for the first time). Time to put things in motion for team Porter. So squirl, after reading the three chapters this morning and seeing the aftermath for all concerned I think I’m back to being on the side of Helbette……leaning towards Bette. I mean how upset can I be with Bette for wanting to be w/ both the sexy blonde and the hot brunette? She’s only human after all…..PPS!
There is enough blame to go around for everyone. but i think that bette should have shown more control. all she been doing is telling tina they were done. now she should’ve stood by those words. bette needs to either get tina out of system once and for all and move, or sit the hell down and talk to her. You have tina is such a bad light. even if tina did kiss bette, bette should have pushed her away and said NO… this is like candance all over again, didn’t bette learn anything from the first time? in a way i felt bad for tina knowing she wants bette back and yet bette is giving off mixed signals. NOW how in the world is tina going to move on? this is story is amazing, the weird thing is this stuff happens all the time.
Alice is making some valid observations, though I think the “sex addict” label is a bit over the top! Bette has been acting impulsively and needs to get to the source of her need to act without thinking first! And indeed–who will she pursue? I hope that she takes a “time out” before she moves on whatever decision she makes.
