How Hard Can it Be – Part 5
Bette pondered the situation for a moment before admitting to herself that she was as much to blame as Tina was for the distance that had been multiplying between them. She was just lost. She wanted so much to show Tina that she had changed that she had begun to base all of her decisions and actions on what Tina would think. She had become so obsessed with trying to make the blonde happy that she herself had begun to sink into a deep dirty pool of unhappiness. A pool that was starting to drown her. And now with Tina’s mother and father visiting she had to watch her step even more. She didn’t like to deal with them, and having the gap between herself and Tee was making it even more difficult. In all of the time that she had been with Tina she had never once, even after everything that had happened last year, believed that Tina would ever leave her. And now Bette had found that the confidence with which she had once approached her relationship had long since withered away and been replaced with the only doubtful feelings that she had ever had. Tina held all the control in their relationship. It was a first for Bette, who had until this point always had things in her own control.
Bette sighed again at the fact that Tina had not even bothered to wake her up before she went to bed. Last night just as she had crawled into bed thinking that if Liz could tell her and Tina were strained then it must be showing and if it was showing then that was bad. She had been relieved when she thought that she had heard Ariana crying and had made her way down the hall to her daughter’s room. Bette closed her eyes finding herself close to tears again. She had never cried as much as she had in the last year. She had learned very early that it did no good to lose control of yourself. The only thing crying ever got her was a headache. Bette clenched her teeth and closed her eyes to even out her breathing. When that was done, she turned and walked back into the house to get dressed. Bette threw on some clothes and grabbed her car keys, she was halfway to her car when it started to rain.

First off, I love how you wrote Bette…great that Dana got some courage and was finally able to say exactly what she needed to.
Dana’s speech to Alice after the tennis courts is one of the most romantic things i have ever read. i’m not even done yet, i had to comment now. alice just said ‘Stay, and we’ll stop running together.” and i fell just fell over.
Ah yesh, lovin this chapter, that was great, can’t wait for your next post!
I do hate how long we have to wait for an update. Then I read it and know why it takes so long. Great story and great chapter. Looking forward to the next chapter. Deb
