    I See You

    As the train slowed down, Bette pressed her forehead against the window searching the platform in earnest. Just as she had every day for weeks, she was looking for the woman who had unknowingly taken over her thoughts. Every morning it was the same routine, the train would slowly come to a stop at the Richland Station, and every morning Bette would unconsciously hold her breath as her eyes roamed through the crowd searching out the beautiful blonde woman.

    There she is…

    The window fogged as Bette let out the air that had been trapped in her lungs.

    So beautiful…

    The woman stood right where she always stood, in the back of the crowd leaning up against the rear wall. Her motions were the same as every other morning, repeatedly wiping tears from her cheeks with the back of her delicate hand.

    Bette notice again that even though her cheeks may no longer reflect the evidence of her tears, the woman was never able to wipe away the melancholy that seemed to be her constant companion.

    As Bette followed the woman onto the train with her eyes, watching as she lowered herself into the seat closest to the door, and shutting out the world by lowering her head, she asked herself the same questions she asked every morning.

    Who is she? Why does she cry every day? What happened to cause such sadness? Why is there no one by her side to help her?

    And, just like every other day Bette vowed that she would get the answers to her questions. Some day, she promised herself, she would have the courage to talk to the beautiful blonde woman who had captured her heart without ever looking into her eyes.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Two more weeks had passed and still Bette had not had the courage to approach ‘tear drop woman’. Shaking her head she couldn’t help the small smile from forming on her lips as she thought about the name Alice had given the unknown woman after Bette had relayed the happenings of her morning commute to her best friend.
    "Did you talk to tear drop woman today?" She would ask Bette every afternoon.
    "No," Bette would sadly answer. "I just couldn’t…"
    1. Sea, I didn’t know her, but I know enough from reading that she was an amazing woman. I also know that as lucky as you felt to have her in your life, she was lucky too. You’ve done her proud Sea, your example for friendship! *HUGS* Amazing writing as always…
    2. 2 years already, Sea? Well, the calendar doesn’t mean much when the eyes aren’t focused on the surface. Once one has seen that which is truly beautiful, it will not fade no matter how much time passes.
    3. This is emotional and beautiful, love B&T, they are awesome. Hey Sea, this is amazing and Tracey is proud of you my friend! Thanks for sharing this story with us, thanks!
    4. My condolences for your loss, she obviously meant a great deal to you. You honour her with your time and words. The only justice we can do to those we have lost, is I believe, to live … to live and flourish in all the spectral colours of life, so they may see through our eyes, to share in the pleasures we are blessed with in their absence.
    5. Poignant, heartwarming story, Seahurst! Thank you very much! I’m sure TBsaver was also touched and wiped away tears of joy when she read this piece. I’ve also lost a dear friend 14 months ago so I can relate to your sorrow. I still wonder how TBSaver would have continued or ended “A Walk on the Wild Side”. Have you ever thought of continuing that story? Anyway, I hope you’ll keep on writing and sharing with us your gift, Seahurst. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!:>
    6. Seahurst, I was selfishly hoping you would post something yesterday, sometimes I can’t believe its been 2 years. THANK YOU and this was TRULY BEAUTIFUL – I know Tracey would be so proud of you that you continue to write & post here when you can. Thank you again and may you have a happy and healthy 2008!!! Hope
    9. That was a beautiful sad story. For one so young to go through so much and then feel the worlddidn’t see or pay attention to her. I am so glad she let Bette in instead of shying away when she fell on the train. This would be a great story if you decided to continue but is great as a one chapter post.
    10. That was an amazing story and a lovely tribute to a talented writer. I did not know Tracey, but I enjoyed her stories. I can’t believe it has been two years. May you find peace and comfort in this community.
      There is the myth that the word “Saudade” is only available in Portuguese and, as such, can not be translated correctly. Indeed, the sense of longing has no specific meaning in other languages.
      The British company Today Translations promoted a list of the most difficult words to translate correctly, where “Saudade” won seventh place.
      Saudade you have:
      Someone who is dead.
      Someone we love and is far away or absent.
      A dear friend.
      Someone or something that we do not see a lot of time there.
      Someone who does not talk much.
      Locations (places).
      Knowledge or colleague.
      Food.
      A song.
      Situations.
      One Love.
      To do something we do not do that anymore.
      Time passed …
      I know how it feels to lose someone important in life … I lost my
      26.12.2010 goddaughter day after Christmas, she was only 19 … I still have
        “Saudade”.
      This story is wonderful! beautiful tribute to TBsaver …
