Tina continued to smile, “Babe, I know you better than you know yourself, and I know how important this is to you, but I just think that maybe you have to take smaller steps. You have no idea, how it makes me feel to know that you’re willing to do this for us Bette.”
Bette felt her chest swell at hearing Tina’s word’s, she had hoped she was doing the right thing in her decision, and now, having spoken to Tina and discussed it, she knew for sure, with the compromise that Tina had suggested, that this would work for them.
“I believe in us Tina, I believe in our love and its strength and I would do anything to fight for us” Bette’s conviction came forward in how strongly she voiced her words, her voice cracking at the end of her sentence.
Tina sat and smiled, this was a Bette that she hadn’t seen in a long time, she was strong, positive and she was wearing her emotions on her sleeve for Tina to observe, it felt good to see. Tina brought her hand up and stroked Bette’s cheek, “I believe in us too Bette.”
With further contentment settling between them following their conversation and its outcome, Bette and Tina began to clear the debris of their lunch, they continued to share intimate knowing looks, their eyes speaking silent volumes of understanding of how far they had come since last night, they had begun the long road of reconnection with abundance, and so far, it was continuing with gusto as far as their physical relationship was concerned, and full of understanding, listening and compromise within their communication.
Tina got up from the sofa to dispose of the litter in the waste bin beside Bette’s desk, a smile forming on her lips as she looked down at the papers that had been moved around during their earlier encounter, as she went to walk back, she placed herself once again in Bette’s chair, silently rotating slightly as she watched Bette tidying the table, she noticed how calm Bette seemed, an air of contentment followed her that had been missing for so long, her eyes wandered to the thing that, for Tina, had not so much encouraged, but enhanced, their physical contact today those goddamn jeans
