Tina: “Bette I was so afraid that you will die, I can’t live without you babe.”

Bette: “I know I’m sorry, but I am fine. Nothing happened. How is James doing and what about Tim is he okay?”

Tina: “Well James is okay, he had an operation and is doing well. We can go and see him. I’ve got bad news Bette, Tim died on his way to the helicopter.”

Bette: “Aww no dammit this is bad. Tina: “Don’t cry he was one of the bad guys.”

Bette: “Yes well he kidnapped me, but Ben was the master mind. Tim’s daughter is ill, she needs an operation, heart transplant. That was why he was willing to help Ben, to get the money to save his daughter. We need to help her, Tina we need to get hold of her, I need to pay for the operation, I promised Tim that I will help them.”

Tina: “Ok Bette relax, I will ask around and see if I can get hold of her.”

Bette: “Thanks T, I need to see the doctor, I’m ready to get out of here.”

Bette press the button and in come the nurse, we ask her for the doctor and also ask her if she knew Tim’s wife and daughter. She said that she will make some inquires at the transplant wing.

The doctor came in and after he examine Bette, he decide that she was good to go. Luckily I organised with the hotel in Loxton to send Bette’s clothes with the inspector. So I help her into a jean and white shirt and her sneakers and then we are ready to leave.

The sister showed us to the transplant wing and told us that Tim’s wife’s name is Michelle.

Transplant wing

The sister at the wing showed us where Michelle was sitting. She was crying.

Bette: Hallo Michelle my name is Bette Porter-Kennard and this is my wife Tina. We are so sorry for your loss. I’m here to help you. Please let us help you.”

Michelle: “You are the actress from America the one that my husband kidnapped. Why do you want to help a criminal’s wife?”

Bette: “I know your husband did the wrong thing, by working with Ben, but he told me the whole story, about your daughter and the fact that she is sick and need a transplant. You know what if I was in his shoes and my daughter was sick and I didn’t have the money, then yes I think I will do the same thing. We will do anything for our kids. The same as your husband. He decide to help me and I promised him that I will help you guys. So I want to pay for the operation, pay for her stay in the hospital etc. Please tell me what you need. I promise I will pay for it.”

Michelle: “Thank you.”

Bette: If it is ok with you, I will go and get all the info from the admin, and sort your account, will it be ok? Do you want to come with us?”

Michelle: “I, I don’t know what to say. Thank you. Yes I will come with you.”

We walk down to the admin part of the hospital. Michelle start to tell us what happened with Tim and their daughter. She tells us about the wine farm and Tim’s love as a farmer. She said that she is going to sell the farm and then she will pay us back.

Tina: “Listen Michelle, we don’t want you to pay us back. This is for you and your daughter. We don’t want your money. This money is for your daughter to get her healthy again. Please accept it.”

Michelle: “Thank you it is a bit difficult, I’m a proud woman, and I don’t like it to look other people in the eye for money.”

We pay the outstanding amount and tell the clerk that thy must mail all the other cost to us, we will transfer the money.

Then it was time to leave, I’ve booked us in to a hotel for the night. We will decide tomorrow what to do, that will be after we had our chat with the police to give them our statements.

That night we lay in bed in each other’s arms. I want to make love to Bette, but I know she is not her own self, and still weak from the commotion of the past few days.

Tina: “Babe are you ok?”

Bette: “Yes T I’m just tired, I just need to sleep. It was so nice to have a bath with you and decent food, and to be in your arms is heaven. I want to make love to you but I’m just too tired.”

Tina: “I know Bette, close your eyes, relax and go to sleep. Remember I love you.

Bette: “Love you too T.”

And then she fell asleep. I watch the love of my life sleeping and silently thank God for his goodness.
