    I Wouldn’t Change A Single Thing 4

I try to open the door to my apartment, “***** keys.” I can barely see through the tears flowing from my eyes,

I finally make my way through the doorway, dropping my purse and coat to the floor. I trip over my show, falling to the floor, “Perfect.” I give up, staying on the floor.

“Alice,” I hear pounding on my door. “Come on, Al. I’m sorry. Please open up and talk to me.”

I recognize the voice immediately. I sigh, running my hand through my hair, wondering what Dana needs to tell me, but I don’t move.

“Fine Alice. I’ll leave, but I need to talk to you. You can’t hide forever,” Dana adds, hitting the door for a final time.

I scoff. Really, why can’t I hide for forever? I could runaway, start over, be hopeless and depressed because I’m not with Dana, “Damnit.” I pick myself up, fumbling with the lock, “Dana, wait.”

She turns around. Her long, curly hair sits wildly on her head. Her eyes are red and appear swollen from crying I presume, but they still looklook full of hope.

“Come on now, let’s not wake up the entire building,” I usher her into my apartment.

I follow her into my living room. I unsuccessfully try not to notice how amazing she looks. I hope she doesn’t notice the pictures. The pictures of us that I couldn’t bare part with. “I’d off your coffee, but I don’t think we have time for pleasantries.”

    She just stares at me.

“Dana, really what is going on? I’m so confused. You leave me, don’t even glance my way for months and now”

Dana takes a seat on my couch, throwing her jacket off sighing, ” I know. I am so sorry Al. I don’t know what I was thinking”

I cut her off feeling my anger rise, “Yeah, you weren’t thinking. What happened? Did Lara find some other pseudo famous tennis player to latch on to?” I know my comments are harsh and without basis. If Dana knows how to do anything, it’s how to play tennis.

She looks at me like I’m a stranger. The hope that was present in her eyes earlier has disappeared, ” No actually, Lara is at my house.”
