If it makes you happy – Chapter 33
“I want to talk to you about Abby.”
The statement was enough to jolt Tina out of her lethargic state as she wondered what there was left to say.
“I’m awake.” Tina replied. Bette watched as several expressions crossed her girlfriend’s face in a matter of seconds.
“I need to know what she said to you.” Bette asked as Tina sat up and rearranged a couple of pillows behind herself before resting back against them.
“Bette, why?” Tina pleaded as she shook her head “Does it really matter?”
“If someone is threatening you or us then I think, as your partner, I deserve to know about it.”
“Partner” Tina reiterated, the word hung between them and Bette realised that gross assumption that she’d just made.
“Is that not what I am to you?” Bette asked quietly.
“I just need a little time to catch up.” Tina tried to explain, recognising the crestfallen look on Bette’s face, “Last night I was sitting in a bar explaining to Helena that I’d lost you for good. I had your ex-girlfriend telling me that you were seeing her again, what was I supposed to think?”
“You could have called me to find out.” Bette countered.
“You stormed out of here because you didn’t get your way and then two days later you went on a date with Abby!” Tina responded unable to comprehend Bette’s defence of her actions.
Bette opened her mouth but then her brain kicked in before she made another remark that wasn’t going to improve her position. Tina had every right to be angry and her actions were inexcusable.
“I was hot headed and foolish and incredibly selfish. I didn’t realise the position I was putting you in when I was making the rules and then constantly trying to break them. Then it frustrated me that you kept putting the brakes on every time we started to make progress and now I realise that it was just another problem I created and I’m sorry for that.”
“What about that date with Abby?”
“What about it?” Bette questioned unable to keep the agitation out of her voice as she wished she’d not raised the topic.

Great !
Hack I want to trust Bette and you but your scaring me here.PPS.
great update dosen’t she realize how mush she is hurting tina.when is going to get her act togather and stop.pps
An interesting development. The careful selection of words to depict your story’s moments/circumstances is always appreciated. Thank you for writing.
What the hell Bette, this is not right and don’t do anything stupid!
Oh, Bette. Well, I hope she gets the answers she needs, cos she’s got a lot of work to do with Tina. A lot. They’re obviously not on the same page, and they’re not going to progress til they are. And I do hope that Bette doesn’t murder Abby whilst she’s there. Thank you for posting, I’m really enjoying the story. Cheers
uhmmm I smell trouble! Don’t do it Bette… you have been there before!! great story. PPS
I love this story but I don’t like the direction Bette’s taking. Talking would have been a better option. It would have shown Tina a willingness to work through their differences. She is refusing to read the signs. She focusing on what needs to be done first. I don’t know what state she’s gonna find Tina in if when she comes back from the easier task of confronting Abby. I loved this chapter. Hope you post soon. I cannot wait for the fireworks to start happening. LOL Looks like it’s gonna be rough for the both of them for a little while.
WTH Bette? Still as utterly frustrating as ever. I hope your Bette is going to get her head out of her ass soon. “Just not enough to stay” – heartbreaking. Tina, maybe you could date Helena instead.
Excellent story and writing. Bette is so childish that if she wasn’t so beautiful and intriguing, she’d get dumped. Too high maintenance.
This Bette doesn’t look like she’s learned anything, yes there is a huge correlation between Candance and Abby…I’m only hoping that you’re going to give us another layer of Bette and she’ll pull some brains out of a hat and use them!!! Tina has every right to be just as nervous about their relationship that Bette has…until Bette and Tina really decide to talk it thru and stay and listen…it could always happen…
Bette’s head is up her arse! Would it have killed her just to sit down and talk to Tina…no she bolts out the front door and has a laugh with Abbey on the phone. What do you have in store, looking forward to reading more. Always nice to see posts from you. Thank you.
bette better have her answers pretty quick, i don’t know how much patience tina has
Abby seems to have a big mouth, What will Bette do.short of killing her Bette needs to get her crap together or Tina will be gone gorever. thanks
Plotwise? Methinks Ms. Abby is about to experience a “come to Jesus” meeting – Bette Porter style.
You’ve captured her, Melvin in a skirt. Bette Porter to the max! I love, love, love the stuff (exposition?) that goes along with your dialogue. All of it is great, actually. This story is slim, trim and stacked in all the right places. The economy of form is evident – you’ve carried us along for so long and given us so much – hard to believe it’s just thirty-odd chapters! If I was with you right now, I’d brig you a cup of tea so you could keep on writing, I enjoy this story so much. Thanks!
What the heck is the matter with Bette. She needs to stop hurting Tina..
How Sad! maybe Bette can find some answers speaking with Abby! speaking being the key word ;) PPS
Thanks for creating a story with dimension. Love never comes easy, contrary to popular belief, and the struggles that you portray are real. Humans are by nature flawed and unless you have two boring milquetoast characters, solutions are never smooth. More please!
Bad, bad Bette, so immature — it’s tiring sometimes. Love your story, though, thank you
oh to be a fly on the wall!! oh thats right we are by reading. thx
Hey HGal, You can;t leave me hanging like this. Tina should have followed Bette out and insisted that they do this together. There is a mountain of hurt between them. It is easy for Tina to throw Candace at Bette, especially after Bette’s foolishness in dating Abby while she is trying to regain her relationship with Tina. Bette really does need to sort herself out and defend and accept her mistakes. Running away is only pushing Tina further away. These gals better sort thiemselves out soon or there will only be shreads of their partnership left and fond memeories. Hack, you constantly astound and amaze me as this tale winds and weaves it story. So much drama-rama. More please as soon as you can. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
