    I’m in a better place. Chapter 3

    Previous chapter:

Bette: As Tina stated that last sentence the look of sheer terror in her eyes was overwhelming for me to even withstand. She was scared of my response. She has no idea that Alice is gay, which is pretty amazing, well you do have the whole bi thing. More importantly she has no idea that I am gay. Do I tell her I am gay or do I let her work through these feelings. I know she needs reassurance. I decide to go with, “I am totally fine with that. One of my areas of expertise is working with gay and lesbian patients.”

Tina: I let a huge breath that I was unsure that I was even holding and involuntarily smiled. I am safe here.

    Chapter 3

Bette: What a beautiful smile but as I was thinking this, the smile rapidly faded as her eyes and mouth widened into a look of dread. I used the word gay and while it initially brought her comfort she is now, to put it plainly, freaking out. I remain silent to see where she will take it.

Tina: She thinks I’m gay. This is the mantra that I keep repeating in my head. Why is she looking at me like that? Fucking say something Dr. Porter. Fine you want me to talk, well I will. “I am not gay. I’m not. I get why you would say that because I did just end the most satisfying relationship both emotionally and physically that I have ever had. That’s not at all honest. Emotionally she was never there and but yes the sex was fantastic. Not that I have that much to compare it with, men or women. But again I am gay, I mean I’m not gay. Fuck!”

Bette: I’m sitting here watching her fight with herself and there is a lot of material to work with. I want to play the role of the devils advocate, but our relationship does not have that level of trust yet. I’ll push too hard and she will leave and she needs to be here. I really just want her to feel comfortable. “Tina, I for one don’t like labels, never did. Love is love. You are not going to be judged here. It sounds to me like the work we have to do is figuring out who you are and what you want. Give yourself the freedom to do that.”

    1. I am totally enjoying this fic. I hope the post will be more regularly. Can’t wait to read how they get together with the whole doctor patient thing. I also like the fact that Tina was with another woman before. Hopefully Bette will show her the EMOTIONAL and the PHYSCIAL love of being w/a woman. Dang I said a mouthful didn’t I? Keep up the good the job!!!!

    2. I saw in one of your responses in the author notes that you felt uncomfortable in the environment of your first session. That’s a shame. If I was a therapist I’m not sure I’d want to have clients come to my house. It’s one thing to take sessions home in your head everyday, but it’s even bigger to have all that baggage in your own home already. That’s cool that Alice wants to get to know Tina on a more personal level, and bonus points for trying to keep Bette out of the picture. If Bette were enter Tina’s personal life so soon it could be damaging. It’s hard enough for Tina to be completely open with Bette and she would clam up more if Bette entered her world (and I don’t see Tina finding another therapist at this time). Cool story. You have my support. :)

    3. I love this story. Tina has alot of issues to work out and trusting peoples motives seems to be one of them, so I think it’s wise of Alice not to invite Bette on the same night as she would invite Tina. Tina might think Bette was trying to take advantage of her. I hope Bette dosen’t make the mistake of mentioning Tina’s case to Alice even if she is talking in general. I think in every story Alice is in she has a tendency of having a big mouth. Yeah I agree I think any type of medical business should be away from a person’s home it seems too creepy. Maybe I’ll lay on my couch and put on a marathon of Frazier or Bob Newhart…lol

    4. tina has a lot of emotional issues and i hope after bette will earn her trust they will be able to share emotional and physical love…and with the help of alice and the rest of the gang it should work…and thanks for what you said to me

    5. Great chapter. Tina has alot of issues to work through, but I think it’s sweet that Bette reduced her fees so that Tina could afford to still see her. I can’t wait for ALice to set up a night out at Milk with Tina in attendance. Tina needs a night out to loosen up. Post soon.

    6. Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with is very difficult. Alice is setting out to find out the real Tina Kennard with Project Kennard. I wonder how long before Dr. Porter and T. Kennard start hanging together.
