In sickness and in love? – Chapter 15
Chapter 15
At home:
Bette is out by the pool, relaxing, while Tina is inside making dinner.
Then Bettes phone rings, breaking the silence. She sees the Caller-ID, she doesnt want to answer it, but felt she had to.
Hey Franklin She says, sitting up straight, and listening to what he says. Yeah, I didnt have time to stay, and you were in a meeting, didnt want to disturb you. She says, she plays with her hair. Tina enters her presence to let her know the dinner is ready. Bette signals with her finger that she will come in about one minute. Tina nods and walks back inside.
Okay, Ill come by tomorrow. Bye. She says and hangs up. She waits one moment before she gets up and walks inside. Tina is already seated. Bette takes a seat too.
So who was that? Tina asks curiously.
That was Franklin, he heard that I was visiting today. He wanted to talk to me about something important. Bette says.
Something important? Tina asks.
Yeah, so I promised him that Id come by tomorrow. Bette replies.
The next day Bette wakes up in Tinas arms, she smiles and roll over on her back, looking at Tinas closed eyes. Tina has her arm cross Bettes chest.
She rubs Tinas arm softly up and down, making Tina moan a little, as she slowly opens her eyes, and smiles. Mmm, good morning. Tina says.
Hey, sleeping beauty. Bette says as she leans in and places a soft kiss on Tinas lips. How long have you been awake? Tina asks.
Oh, just a little while. Bette says as she grins. So you have been watching me? Tina asks and smiles. Yeah. Bette replies.
I wish we could stay like this forever. Tina says after a few moments.
Yeah, that would be a piece of heaven. Bette says and pulls Tinas hand up to her lips and kisses it softly, and then holds it close to her heart.
They lay and stir at each other a few minutes, smiling and kissing.
We should get up. I have to get to work today. I promised Oscar a few days ago. Tina says and get up and out of bed. Yeah. Bette agrees and get out of bed too. Tina goes into the bathroom, Bette follows. Tina enters the shower. You wanna join me? Tina asks Bette. As much as I want to, Ill wait, I have to change the bandages and clean it. Bette replies.
Okay. Tina says, and jumps in.
Bette cleans the wound and places a new bandage over it. She drops the shower this morning. She just uses a cloth by the sink.
Tina is finished
And opens the door and steps outside, just as she put her leg down she slips on a puddle of water. She falls on her side, on top of her right hand. She screams out in pain. Bette turns around fast and get down on the floor. Baby, you okay? Bette asks. Tina cries and tears are falling from her eyes. She holds her right hand close to her chest. My arm, I think its broken. She says between the tears. Bette helps her up, and she takes the injured hand gently to look at it. Yeah, I think you are right. Bette says. Let me get something to bind it up with. Bette says as she searches through the medicine cabinet for something. She found some elasticised bandage. She binds the arm up. Then she helps drying Tina, and helps her dress herself. It hurts like *****. Tina says. I know baby, well go down to the hospital. Bette replies. She then dresses herself, and they exit the house and get into the car. They drive off.
How could I be so stupid? Tina asks herself.
Its not your fault, it couldve happened to anyone. Bette replies.
They arrive at the hospital, the walk into the emergency room, and straight up to the reception.
Hi, we have a broken arm here. Tina Kennard Bette says as she points her finger at Tinas arm. The reception-lady, tells them to take a seat, whiles they wait for the doctor. There were a lot of people in today. Bette takes out her cell-phone and dial Franklins number. Hey, Franklin, its me. Bette says. Im in the ER with Tina. She slipped this morning on the bathroom floor and broke her arm. So Ill be a little late in today. Bette says. Yeah, okay. She says and hangs up. She smiles at Tina and places her arm around Tinas shoulder. Tina leans down on Bettes shoulder.
Are you okay? Does it hurt much? Bette asks.
It hurts, but I can handle it. Tina says.
Hey Bette? Why dont you want to work at the CAC anymore? Tina asks.
Bette looks down into Tinas eyes.
I dont have the need to be strong and important anymore, these last few months have taught me to see thing in a different light. It dawned on me yesterday when I got back into the office. I realized that I kept the job just out of appearance outwards. Thats not what a job should be. It should be something I truly love and enjoy. Bette says.
But I thought you loved it there, and I thought you loved art. Tina replies. Yes I do love art, and in the beginning, I loved my work. But lately it has been tearing me down bit by bit. I was exhausted every day after work. You remember, I didnt have a lot of energy when I got home. Bette says. I remember, I love the new and open Bette. Tina says and smiles.
Tina Kennard? A lady calls out.
