    Scintilating small talk.

    Then again, the arrival of the food did not cause that great of a break.

     

    “So, Tina, what plans do you wacky kids for the rest of the day?”

     

    Tina glanced towards Bette. “I don’t think we’ve really made plans?”

     

    “Not rushing back to the Porter pleasure shack to play the pirate and the pillow queen?”

     

    Bette could see that it took a moment for Tina to get the meaning of Alice’s question. Once she did, the blush was once again rising on her cheeks. While Bette still found the reaction endearing, she found the reason for the reaction less so.

     

    “Alice?”

     

    “What? I’m just making scintilating small talk.”

     

    Bette responded to this with a raised eyebrow.

     

    “Alright,” Alice replied with a pout.

     

    “Tina and I haven’t made any plans for the day.”

     

    To this, Tina nodded. “Except I want to get the new keys for my place.”

     

    “So, you’re going back to your place.”

     

    “Why wouldn’t I go back to my place?” Tina gave a shrug, looking totally innocent. “After all, I’ve got a bed there, too.”

     

    Bullseye. Alice was, at least for milliseconds, speechless.

     

    Under the table, Bette gave Tina’s knee a pat.

     

    “So, uh, Bette, when do you start setting up for your next artist?”

     

    “The show opens in three weeks.”

     

    Tina sat back and watched as Bette continued to talk about the upcoming show. She admired how much Bette was driven in her work. The tall woman’s face lit up on the topic of the upcoming show.

     

    The topics for the remainder of breakfast swirled out from this foray into safe territory.

     

    As Bette and Tina returned to Bette’s car, Tina found herself wondering just what Alice had asked earlier. “So?”

     

    “So?” Bette smiled at the question, but was not sure exactly where Tina was headed with this conversation.

     

    “Are there any plans for today?”

     

    “Besides repossessing your apartment?”

     

    “You mean the one with the bed?” Tina again had the guileless look on her face.

     

    “Yes, that one.” This woman was sorely testing Bette’s resolve. “I think I can come up with something.”

     

    “Oh? Care to share?”

     

    Bette gave a smile, and then started in with her idea.

Can’t wait to find out Bette’s plan, but I’m sure its not going to be exactly wheat we would want. Glad you found some time to update. For those who haven’t used the sponsors on the site.     7. Normally, I would take a guess at Bette’s plan, tonight I’m too tired. I know that if I could skip work tomorrow and hang in the park or go to a movie theater and sneak in extra shows or just chill by a pool, I would. Thanks for another tantalizing update.
