It’s a small world after all – chapter 16
Chapter 16
Tina walked out of The Planet in such a hurry one would think she was rushing to the hospital with labor. She passed Alice who was waiting for her at the door and rushed over to the car.
Alice on the other hand slowly continued exiting the place trying to figure out what the ***** was going on and why is Tina so anxious to get out of there.
She did not notice Bette earlier, not seeing the intensity in their eyes. Note to selfshe said to herself, never, ever get pregnant unless it requires being in a deep coma for nine months.
Alices thoughts were cut off when she felt a hand touching her shoulder. She turned around and saw Dana standing in front of her with a strange look in her eyes. Her hand still on Alices shoulder she asked, whats up Dana, are you coming with us too?
The strange look on Danas face just became stranger. She didnt want to leave The Planet and didnt want Alice to leave either.
Dana was on a missiona mission given to her by Bette. It was more like an order, actually, and Dana had every intention of performing it to the fullest or else she knew she would have to answer to Bette. And the consequences would be dangerous if not fatal.
You cant leave, she told Alice in a tone that sounded more pleading than demanding.
What?, why? Alice had a confused look on her face. You just cant continued Dana reaching to hold Alices other shoulder. Holding it tightly, willing to do whatever it takes to have her mission completed.
Dana, whats wrong, are you okay?
Yeah, yeah, Im fine she said. Dana started to get edgy. She knows Alice is not the kind of person that would take orders so simply.
Okay then Alice was getting irritated. I have to go, Tina is outside already, I have to take her home.
She put her hand on Danas hand trying to get loose from Danas strong grip.
Dana started to panic. She knew she couldnt hold Alice for much longer so she tried to think of something to say fast enough for her to stop Alice and have her stay inside The Planet.
Two seconds went by and felt to her like eternity. She couldnt think of anything to say. All she could hear was Bettes voice echoing in her headdo whatever it takes, Dana.you hear mewhatever it takes.
She clung onto Alice, leaning all of her weight on the poor girl and tightened her grip. They were so close to each other. Alice thought Dana might be trying to start a boxing match with her. But before she could comment and yell out some stupid, funny remark to her, Dana surprised her by pushing her into the door with so much strength that she almost fell down.
Before she knew it, Danas lips were on hers. Kissing her passionately and with so much force like there was no tomorrow.
Alice tried to object, trying to push Dana away from her, but then she felt Danas soft tongue in her mouth, making her rediscover the location of her tonsils.
Quickly forgetting Tina and her duties as a chauffer, she surrendered to the kiss.
They were now both in ecstasy, running their hands on each others bodies, devouring each others mouths.
For the second time in their lives, this time not willing to let go.
Tina on the other hand, was oblivious to the whole thing. Caught up in her thoughts and the storm of emotions she was in, she proceeded walking towards the car, unaware of the fact that Alice was not behind her anymore.
The car was parked just a few feet away from the entrance to the Planet and Tina quickly reached out to open the passenger door.
She was facing the door when she heard the sound of the automatic locking device unlock the car. Not realizing it wasnt Alices hand that pressed the unlock button on the keychain. She opened the door and sat on the passenger side trying to fasten her seat belt as comfortably as possible considering the enormous size of her belly.
The drivers side door opened. Tina mumbled in frustration, still wrestling with the seat belt.
Alice She frowned, not looking to see who entered the car and sat next to her, starting the car in one swift motion.
Stupid thing, I cant put this thing on! She was getting out of breath trying to hook the two ends of the belt together.
Before she could look up and ask Alice to help her, a gentle hand reached out and grabbed the end of the seat belt. Clicking it quickly into the other end.
Tina was still looking down to her left side when she noticed it wasnt Alices hand performing the smooth maneuver.
She gasped recognizing exactly whose hand it was.
Sharply raising her head to see the person next to herBette.
What she saw when she raised her eyes and met
Bettes eyes surprised her more than the initial surprise of seeing some else in the car next her.
The look in Bettes eyes was far more intense than anything Tina has ever seen before.
Bettes eyes had a sparkling shine in them. Looking straight into Tinas soul, leaving her breathless and speechless.
The stared at each other not saying a word. Taking in the realization of their bodies being so close to each other for the first time in nine months.
Tina was the first to snap out of the hypnotizing moment they were in. She tried with all her strength to remember the long and angry speech prepared in case Bette tries to speak to her, but she couldnt.
Her mind, unable to focus on anything besides the fact of being so close to Bette.
What the ***** are you doing? She managed to blurt out, almost yelling.
Bette did not respond.
She put the car in drive and drove away leaving The Planet behind them. The nerve she has, Tina thought. She was trying to gather her thoughts together, thinking of an appropriate response to the situation she was in now.
But uncontrollably she couldnt help but feeling that Bettes presence next to her was pleasant.
She argued again, this time with a tone slightly sarcastic.
Are you kidnapping me? Her eyes were studying Bettes profile.
Bette was facing the road. Her facial expression was calm and focused. This being in the same space with Tina just made her life a little more bearable.
She didnt answer that question either. Instead she glanced over at Tina, a half smile on her face and answered the question with a question. Are you running away from me T?
Tina was getting upset. the audacity she has she thought.
Sneaking around trying to smooth her way with a ridiculous action. what the ***** is she thinking, first that toast in The Planet, and now THIS! Who the ***** does she think she is?
Her anger was now sufficient enough for her to make a proper objection.
I just want to go home, if you dont mind.
Bette calmly glanced again toward Tinas direction. Taking her eyes off the road for a just a second and responded in a soft voice, home is where the heart is Tina.
She paused, checked the road again and then brought her eyes back to Tina.
Your home is with me.
Bettes words were clearly sinking in to Tinas heart.
She worked harder to push it away, her anger still flush in her cheeks
Does Candace know that you feel that way? She shot an arrow into Bettes direction.
The arrow struck, its target unmissed. Revealing the pain in Bettes eyes. An undeniable remembrance of her infidelity.
She swallowed hard, letting her voice regain its calmness.
She is out of my life, has been for months nownow and forever.
Tina was surprised, she didnt know Bette had broken it off with Candace. Although as far as she was concerned, it didnt matter anyway.
Bettes infidelity was something that couldnt be erased, couldnt be forgotten. Or was it?
She gazed out the window wondering why does it feel so good hearing that Bette is not with Candace. Why does she feel relieved knowing that Bette spent her nights alone in the past few months. And why does it feel so God damn natural to be next to her after all that has happened between them.
Tina was still gazing out the window when the car pulled over to a side road entering a gate leading to a dark space.
She started to wonder where is Bette taking her?
She was so accustomed to Bette leading the way that that thought hadnt crossed her mind until now.
She always felt so secured with Bette that it never mattered anyway.
It was only when she realized the location of their final destination only then, her fear started to rise.
And she started questioning Bettes mental stability.
Are you insane?! she cried out when Bette finally parked the car.
Realizing they were sitting in the car right in the middle ofa cemetery.
