Chapter 16
Bette looked around the house as soon as she got up. It took her a while to realize Tina wasn’t there. She must have gotten up early and left to go to work.
On her way to the kitchen, she grabbed the cordless phone, dialling Tina’s cell as she turned on the coffee maker.
“Good morning,” Tina answered, aware from the number who was calling.
“You snuck out!” Bette said. “I didn’t even have a conversation with you.”
“I had to go home to get a change of clothes,” Tina laughed. “I had nothing and I had to go to work.”
“I can’t remember the last time I slept that well,” Bette said.
“I slept well, just not long enough,” Tina replied. “I’m at my desk already.”
“Last day though, then some freedom,” Bette said.
“Are you up to anything tonight?” Tina asked.
“I’m spending the evening at home,” Bette replied. “I have a little work to do, but I might just relax with a glass of wine and do some reading before bed.”
“So if I am able to call later, you’ll be around?” Tina asked.
“I will be, yes,” Bette replied. “Is there a time I can expect a call?”
“How’s seven?”
“It’s great for me, I’m usually home by 5:30 on Fridays,” Bette replied.
“I’ll talk to you later then,” Tina said. “I really should get back to work.”
Bette set the phone down and smiled, surprised at the connection that was so apparent between them.
Tina sighed at the list of last minute details she had to work though that day. The earlier she started, the earlier she would finish.
***********
At exactly seven o’clock, Bette’s home phone rang.
She glanced at the caller id to ensure it was who she expected, and answered.
“Hey you,” Bette said.
“It’s so great to hear your voice,” Tina replied.
“You don’t sound tired at all,” Bette said. “After the week you’ve had I thought you’d be out of energy.”
“I’m just getting my second wind,” Tina said. “I think I’m going to be here all night.”
“Really?” Bette asked. She couldn’t hide the disappointment in her voice.
“If it wasn’t important, I wouldn’t be here,” Tina said. “Are you going to stay home?”

Ahhh. Loved it. Thanks for the story, swimmie. Mayhap, if you get a rainy day or two, we’ll see a get a few “quickies” (as Lament says) from you. ;) Have a great summer yourself, and thanks again.

Hate to see it end but loved the story. Thanks!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story about the beginning of Bette and Tina’s relationship. I hope this is the end of this chapter and the beginning of the next phase of Bette and Tina. :)

Thanks for the story. We’re always blown away by your writing. Keep um coming.
That was great and so cute, love them.
What may be an evening (weekend?) treat for Bette is a morning treat for me. But…(the end). Does that mean (the end), or does that mean (the end of this installment). My wee little brain is having trouble grasping the meaning of (the end), and will be missing these fun little snippets of story. But if it’s (the end), good luck with all and enjoy the summer.
We can always count on you to deliver…and once again you did. Lovely story…Thanks!!
very cute!! why the end?? why? they shall go on and on them two!
The end, we don’t get to see where all that flirting and waiting ended up? In any case it was a great story but that seems to be the norm for you! Enjoy your summer! Drop us a few stories when you can!

Your writing is just at a different level than many others. I hated to see the words “the end”. If the muse strikes please consider writing anything even one-offs on this storyline. Have a great summer. Carpe Diem!
