Jeffrey Rains – Chapter 51a
Jeffrey took a sip of his coffee. He was finally now able to relieve the burden he’d carried for over three decades.
“Maxine after you sold your share in the company Caroline and I thought we’d give it a go with just the two partners but of course that meant both of us pulling more weight. We decided she would handle the Europe market and I would manage the US. We both had a decent portfolio and we split your clients between us. That worked for the first few years but I started lagging behind when a few deals went bad. Phillips kept approaching us with new business opportunities but Caroline wanted no part of it because of your history with him. I tried to convince her that it was a personal vendetta between you and Phillips and if she just gave me a chance I could prove that he was a valuable client to have. She wouldn’t budge. She said even though you were no longer invested she still trusted your instincts about him and wanted us to steer clear. I set out to prove both of you wrong. I started working with him off the books. I figured once we closed a few successful deals Caroline would be persuaded not to turn the business away.”
“So you went behind her back?”
“I needed to do something Maxine, or we would be out of the US market. It was either that or we bring in another partner and maybe put myself out of a job. I had a family to support. You had to know how important the US sector was to the profitability and viability of the company.”
“Jeffrey you could not have been so naïve to think getting involved with Phillips would save your ass?”
“I was desperate Maxine. Phillips had a lot of contacts. He was more than agreeable to share his resources. He said he actually preferred to work with independents. He advanced me the capital and we went into business together. My commissions were paid directly into my personal savings account. I opened a separate business account for the advances.”
“You had to be pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars Jeffrey. How did you think that you could hide that from Caroline or the IRS for that matter?”

Other than being a coward Jeffery sounds like he is one of the good guys? Let’s hope Maxine is still not in danger and they get ready for the holiday.

One thing i do know, a lie doesn’t care who tells it as long as it gets told.JEFFREY you are lying to save yourself and to tell it with a striaght face takes years of planning. You don’t talk to CAROLINE about MAXINE nor MELVIN,you hold onto evidence for 35 yrs because you were scared gtfoh. You set MAXINE up,there was no other car but yours, and you called PHILLIPS not your wife.A quarter of a million dollars she liquidated yet she only took ten grand with her?Where was she going to DISNEYLAND.Is this why you needed 3 wks to put this together? You are one smooth operator but PETER is about to put your ass on hold.JEFFREY they made a movie to go with your broke legs ,its called ”BROKEBACK MT.see you in prison.thanks.

Don’t trust Jeffery at all. Weak man and will do anything to save himself. Enjoyed it. Especially all the quick updates

Amazing chapter. So intricate with well thought out details. Quite an accomplishment. Jeffrey is a piece of work. He counts on Maxine not remembering the individual details. Greg and others have been taking notes and can now dissect and separate truth from fiction.

Very interesting story Jeffrey had to tell, but i don’t trust the bastard, he was and still is a coward, only interested for his own safety.
Thanks for the quick updates!
