Just The Girl, Stories: Four Friends, Three Days, Two Brides and One Wedding (Part 2 of 3)

Before they pulled out of the parking lot, Bette reached forward and handed Shane the GPS she had just purchased the day before. Their designated driver fitted it in place on the dashboard, readjusted the screen and spoke right into the tiny mic built into it. “Find a bank.” She gave the command. The car wasn’t the only thing that needed refueling. They needed to revive their empty Stripper Tippers too.
“Finding banks.” The disembodied voice replied before the screen dissolved into a picture of a rotating wheel. The screen cleared after a few seconds and a map flashed.
Shane made herself comfortable on the driver’s seat before releasing the handbreak. “Everyone set?” She asked, peering at the yawning faces on the rearview mirror. At the sound of concurring murmurs from the back, she slapped her aviators over her eyes and put the car in drive.
Grand Canyon, here they come.
“Ugh.. I need to puke..” Alice stirred.
If they’d survive the journey, that is.

Interstate 10 East en route to the Grand Canyon
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me..”
Bette Porter sighed. She screwed her eyes shut and pinched the bridge of her nose with her fingers – feeling the slight surge of frustration rushing through her veins and making her head throb. “Fuck me..” She cursed again, prompting the mother cruising the aisle behind her to shoot her a disapproving glance before dragging her kids away from her potty mouth.
Pink. Red. Green. Yellow.
Her brown eyes flitted from one color to another with a peculiar intensity that would probably turn all the electrolyte drinks into wine if she so desired. She’d been standing in front of the drink cooler for the past two minutes or so; staring at the bottles before her with a look that tethered between disdain and resignation. Why is it that when life hands you choices, they rarely include the ones you really want? Like right now, she’s given the choice of red, pink, green and yellow – when all she ever wanted and needed was blue. Yes, she was stressing over Gatorade flavors. And yes, she knows she’s being petty. But just like always, she couldn’t care less. Despite appearances, pettiness wasn’t really above her at this point in her life. Sadly, she hasn’t quite outgrown it yet.

Your last update was so long ago.I have read JTG from start to finish after it was recommended to me.It has been a most enjoyable read.One of the best FF i have read.I really hope you can find it in you to finish it off.I just can’t imagine what you will have happen on their actual Wedding Day laughs a plenty i would imagine so please post very soon.x

I’ve been waiting for this update like forever! it is the best Thanksgiving gift ever, so thank u ;DEvery time I read ur stories my kids thinks that I’m crazy because I laugh by myself and they wouldn’t guess why, LOL. the male strippers part was hilarious ;D

I hadn’t read this story since the first time it came out and I just have to say that re-reading it from begining to finish was just as enjoyable as I remember! This story is by far one of my favourite stories on this site and in existence.
Although I was a little sad to see that Part 3 of the wedding road trip never made an update. I would love to see this story continued one day. Thank you for your wonderful writing!
