Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 26A

Four and a half months ago, this story ended with:

Bette left a sexy voicemail for Tina that wasn’t a voicemail at all since Tina answered the phone (Bette, of course, was unaware that she had gone LIVE); Shay was on his way to LA, but Shane drove north all night to Sacramento to stop him from heading further south; Carmen was more than a little ticked that Shane didn’t bother to talk to her before leaving town; Alice saved Dana from a crazy stalker; Peggy disinherited Helena, cutting her off from the Peabody money; Dylan was on a plane for parts unknown after being involved with the death of her film partner, Danny; Stephanie was in killer-mode after learning that Henry had been told about her rape by her father.  Henry had become furious with Tina for not taking her medication as prescribed.  Theresa, Tina’s mother had gone to The Planet, chatted with Kit at the counter and when Kit walked over to say good morning to her niece, Angelica was gone.

    7:56am

“Theresa,” Kit shouted in panic, “Angelica’s not here.  Where’s Angelica?”  Kit turned in a circle, her eyes skittered across The Planet, looking at everyone and no one.  “Where’s Angelica?” she asked all.

Theresa ran to the stroller and then to the front of it.  She gasped.  A second later, she dashed to the main door of the Planet, flung it open, and looked up and down the street.  She saw no one.  Theresa came back into the café and said to the nearest staff, “Call the police.  Someone call 911.”

Kit ran across the restaurant toward the back door.  On her way, she said to one of her assistants, “Check the bathrooms.”  As she ran forward, she shouted behind her, “Nobody leaves.  I don’t give a fuck what they got goin’ on.  Nobody’s leavin’ this place.”

The staff jumped.  “We’ll check the street,” one said and ran to the door with another waitress.  A third staff member locked the door behind them.  Customers were herded from the patio and outdoor deck into the enclosed section of the restaurant by the rest of the wait staff.  The scene was chaotic with people who had been on their way out, forced to stay; men and women who weren’t aware of what had happened, hysterical with fear, their minds leaping to a terrorist attack; and then there were a few who simply didn’t want business that had nothing to do with them intruding in their lives.  The staff calmed people as best they could while Kit turned off the back door alarm and raced outside to search the alley.

    1. ” I am so sorry for the long wait,…” – Well, they say ‘good things come to those who wait’, and that was certainly true in this case. Welcome Back, P!

    3. Well, I was gonna turn in to bed when I had this thought to sneak back on to my notebook to look for new posts and look what I found. Now I have something to wake up to later! Thank you!

    4. Again, an amazing story that we should have seen on the tv instead of the actual IC version. You are amazing, your writing is amazing. I would wait more that 4months for you to post, as long as you continue to give us more I would wait forever. I will be sitting on the edge of my seat until Saturday…and to think there is more to come, thank goodness. You have an amazing talent, I can only hope that you are in fact in the industry and are sharing this talent with a wider audience. And please don’t let anything happen to little Angelica. Thankyou very much for posting!!!

    5. I’m really glad you are back. Missed this story. I hope Bette can get Angie back. And I also hope with all that drama that Bette and Tina will in the futher have their life to normal back. And live happyly a long life together. It’s also time to get Stephanie out of the picture. Send her in a padded cell. Can’t wait of Saturday, when you post again.

    6. I love Peggy, sweeping in with her jet :). This was so worth the wait, but please don’t make us wait again to see what happens to Angelica. I’d almost feel bad for Stephanie if she weren’t so evil. At least Henry is starting to realize what he’s getting into. Also, I’m very concerned about Tina. Has she taken her meds yet? Thanks Portia, you never disappoint.
