Let It Happen – Chapter III
Bette’s gaze traveled down to the blonde’s well-shaped, athletic thighs; and at that moment, Tina caught Bette staring, her gaze undressing Tina, or at least it felt like that to the blonde. She motioned with her fingers for Bette to look back up, hoping for at least an embarrassed reaction from the brunette. But instead of being embarrassed or looking away, Bette winked at her, which caused Tina to flush.
“What hot drink would you like?” she asked Bette, to ward off her confusion.
As Bette arched her eyebrows, a naughty glint in her eye. Tina said exasperatedly, “I meant tea or coffee you letch!” smiling at the end.
“Rooibos tea would be great, thanks.”
Tina turned to spoon some tea leaves into a tea press.
“And honey,” Bette continued, in a teasing voice. It was Tina’s turn to arch her eyebrows. She turned around slowly and looked at Bette with a smirk.
“I meant the honey on the cupboard, please,” Bette winked again.
As Tina returned to the couch with fresh beverage, Bette continued, ”Anyway, they’re my closest friends, and one of them is my sister, so literally family there. Full disclosure, they’re all gay, except for my sister, so if it doesn’t sound like something you’d like to…”
”Bette, are you kidding me? Of course I’d like to join, and touched, once again, that you think of me enough to invite me to something like that. Are you sure, though? It just seems so private and closed off to non ”family” members.”
“Yeah, it is private, and for each of us, something we look forward to throughout the week. But I think you’ll like them, and I was just thinking it may help you to just be around people like them, right now. They’re all very kind, warm, and would be respectful if you prefer to hang back a bit, if everything gets a bit much. I must warn you, a couple of them can get pretty loud and playful, and sometimes, family night can be rowdy.”
“Yeah, like any family.”
“Yeah, like any family.”
Bette smiled. She knew her friends would love Tina. Tina smiled back, and then leaned over to give Bette a quick kiss, just a brush on the lips.
It was so unexpected, and caught both of them off-guard.

Dear author, discovering this story of yours last night was truly a gift,
Savouring everything, from the remembering of this magical city of Paris – that is so deeply a part of my soul and heart since always – to this so tender, delicate depiction of our dearest two’s growing attraction I truly love in this story, gives such a comfort to me at a very right moment…
And, finally, these two quotes, in this chapter, brang at the same time smile on my face and tears in my eyes, because something deeply personal resounds in me – bitter sweet memories always present :
“there was something much more intimate and magical in their relationship than undeniable physical attraction (…) She later understood that no matter what would happen later in life between the two of them, Bette would never be able to forget her. This was going to be a relationship that she would not be able to walk away from without being shattered.”
Thank you so much for sharing this true endearing and delicate writing talent with us – I mean it.
A.
Each, in their own way, will find ways to overlook undesirable things in the other even as they each continue to fall in love with this evolving, changing person they found in “Let It Happen.” Both will continue to change, and will never be the same from book to book in this series.
I hope you’ll get to read the other books — then I hope you let me know what you think.
Take good care,
S
