Let It Happen – Chapter IV

Bette arched her eyebrows,. ”So I’m some sort of …. um, parasite, or vampire now?”

Tina shook her head, turning to Bette, hazel eyes communicative again. ”No, no…. it’s just that I realize how important that is to you and to who you are. I just don’t know if I can handle it, that’s all.”

They fell silent again. Bette started to rub Tina arms the same way she’d rubbed them following the incident with Eric in the gallery, trying to comfort her, in some way.

After a few minutes of strained silence, Bette said quietly, with as much reassurance as she could convey, ”I’m not Eric…. Tina…. or anyone else who has hurt you that way in the past.  If we choose to do something about this feeling we have, or build something together, I promise you I’ll be faithful.”

She continued, returning Tina’ uncertain but earnest stare with as much sincerity that she could convey in her eyes. ”I may be unable to help being a flirt, but I can control what I do with it.”  Brown eyes were searching hazel ones for signs of wavering in the unspoken connection the two had established.

”I hope you’ll choose to trust me. I pray we get a chance to at least try to see what can happen between us, because this will be the most important thing I will ever do, Tina. I know that, and I hope I’m ready for it.”

She fell silent.  Tina turned into the curve of Bette’s shoulder and wept. She wanted to be ready, wanted to release her fears, wanted to grab this sudden chance at happiness with someone who was, by all accounts, an extraordinary person, and who clearly felt deeply about her.  Bette was a catch, no doubt, and set the bar high – she wasn’t sure anyone else in her life would ever match-up to her.  What else would she need? What else was she looking for?

But Tina was troubled by her own reaction to what she’d seen between Bette and Kelly.  ”I… I don’t know if I can handle it either, Bette.”  Did this insecurity mean she wasn’t ready?  Despite Bette’s assurances, and the sincerity she saw in the warm brown eyes, would Bette lose interest while Tina tried to sort through her confusion, and move on from Tina?  Or would she stay patient, and trust in the truth of this feeling, this connection between them?

    1. An other marvellous chapter, full of emotions and feelings, with your delicacy signature…
Right now, facing dark shadows in my little life, it’s my medication and, more, a priceless bit of blue sky in my inside rainy day…
I can only hope you’ll read that, for I’m such a late reader of this story of yours, but anyway I’ll keep it with my favourite TIbette stories !
      Thank you, really.
      A.

    2. Again, apologies for the delay. I was unplugged for quite a while as I mentioned to you in another reply.
Am glad you found my stories to be “a bit of blue sky.” I hope you find the other stories later on to be as light.

      keep well,
