Let It Happen – Chapter XIX
The sitter arrived, and after a few final kisses to Angelica, who remained fast asleep, they walked out of the tea house together. The sitter steered the stroller towards the apartment, while they headed out to see the first two on the list.
Their luxurious appointments almost changed Tina’s mind about the feeling she had formed while she’d been looking at the information sheet about the last property earlier that afternoon, when they’d gathered to meet in the tea house. Her mind was still on the plush interiors of the first two properties they had seen when they got to the last property, thinking how comfortable they would be in either of those places.
On reaching the third property on their list, she and Bette took their time to step back to gaze up at it, holding hands, silently confirming the initial feeling they’d each formed about the sculptural "feel" of the building. They looked at each other, smiled, then gazed again at the beautiful mansion.
Sarah eyed them, interacting silently. “Look, Bette, Tina, I understand that buying your home will be dictated by your hearts, as well as by the more practical considerations like schools and such. But you’ll also have to consider what else is involved. And in this case, while there may be a lot of emotion that you may feel..,” she trailed off. Bette was already falling in love with the building, she could see.
“Why don’t we have a look around, shall we?”
She called the agent listed in the property announcement, and reminded her that she’d called about them possibly looking at the property. She obtained a code to use to access the front door, then another code to access the private elevator that went up to the duplex. She used her realtor card to open the masterlock to the door of the duplex, and stepped in, with Bette and Tina trailing behind.
They walked slowly around. Bette and Tina held hands as they walked through the rooms, squeezing the other’s hand whenever one or the other saw something that excited them. As the house unfolded, room by room, Bette thought it was clear that there had been careful engineering, and a very thorough construction process applied so that every detail of the space had been thought through, and that all the details and composition of the various elements all worked together to form an almost pure structure, devoid of unnecessary extras.
