Let It Happen – Chapter XVII
Thus, when she left Tina in the tub, earlier, after reaching out to her, after Bette saw that the sun was shining brightly outside, with nary a cloud in the sky, Bette rang the concierge on an impulse, to ask if he could get tickets for them. Now, he was calling to tell Bette that he had, indeed, arranged for such tickets but they were timed entrance tickets, at least to the Chateau itself. The only catch was that their tickets were for an entry about an hour from now.
She hung up, thanking the man first. She turned towards Tina with a broad smile.
Tina watched and wondered about the call. Her thoughts still on what she was going to share with Bette, and how she would sequence things, to ease the brunette into the biggest news she had to share. By far.
“T… remember how we enjoyed our walk around Versailles two years ago?”
Tina nodded, still mystified, but curious now as to why Bette seemed so…jazzed about something.
“And do you remember that we were a bit disappointed that there were so many people lining up to go into the Chateau… and we promised ourselves that we would try to make it in ourselves, whenever we were both here next?” Tina saw the brunette was positively excited now.
“Well… we’ve got tickets to go into the Chateau this morning!”
Tina’s eyebrows shot up. Bette mistook it for reluctance, and her excitement died down a bit. “Um….,” she started to say. Did Tina want to continue to talk in the confines of the room instead?
But Tina smiled, cutting in, reassuring Bette, “Yes of course, Bette. A wonderful idea! Perfect… a nice day out, we can take in the Chateau, lunch in the gardens, and just enjoy the day.”
“We can continue to talk as we roam around, T,” Bette began to say, reassuringly.
“Yes, yes of course, Bette. And just a perfect setting for us to do so, too, at least I think so.” Pause. “There’re things I have to share where a day in the sun would help me talk about them, actually. So, I think you’ve figured out how to make this work…”
Tina stood, walked over to Bette, and leaned in for a kiss, “Baby…you really are the best.” Bette smiled back, “As are you, T,” then bent to give her a soft kiss. She drew back after a while, “I forgot to tell you, they brought up a bag that they said you had called about? Something about getting it sent over by the hotel you were staying at?”

How excruciating the story is!!!!
“They were relieved to be coming out of their individual circles of hell, finding each other, and like Apollo, they were emerging from the depths of the ocean.” Beautiful…
Passionate about greek mythology myself – well, as a little girl I was so proud to find a story about my own name Ariane ! – I’m more than ever captivated by the sense of magic in your story, through special places, legends (Aristophanes’ famous myth about soulmates), balancing between fires of passion and tragedy of lost paradise, our beloved two suffer a lot but I’m confident that all these tears will be like rain drops mixed with the sun of their shared love : creating a rainbow – until a happy ending…
Still slowly savouring your tale, dear talented author :-)

Hi there! Thanks so very much for your post. Am particularly tickled that you were into the Greek and other cultural references. I hope you continue reading the next chapters and similarly enjoy them. Sorry this reply is so late — I’ve been unplugged for much of the last three weeks or so, hiking in remote places and sailing in the vast Pacific Ocean.
Hope you’ve had a great summer!
