                The CAC, a party to
    honor
    Peggy Peabody
and her never ending stream of art and flow of money. Cards exchanged hands,
business deals were stuck, and she was at the center of it all, even though it
    was Peggy‘s evening.

                Bette
was in her element here, this was who she was, not the cheating spouse, but the
accomplished head of the CAC. She smiled, she kissed cheeks and she watched Candace
    Jewell
from the corner of her eye. Candace
was there with a beautiful woman, dark hair, and white alabaster skin, Bette
    wondered jealously who she was.

                Tina
had arrived in a flurry of bags and stories, BetteTina to
come out and say it. As if she knew, Bette
thought to herself, she was to naive to know what she was doing behind her
back. Tina was the epitome of goodness, and Bette
knew this, she also knew it was one of the flaws in their relationship.

Everyone was here, except for Shane.
No one had seen or heard from the Casanova for two days, and Alice
was spinning a yarn about her being off on a quiet getaway with Cherie.
    Paris, she was
saying with her usual flare and BetteShane was off somewhere, being Shane.

                Bette
pushed the thought aside of another cheating spouse and went on pretending that
nothing was wrong and that she was the happiest woman on earth.

                What a facade of gigantic
    proportions.

“Babe, I’m going to go over
    and talk to Alice,
    ok?” TinaBette found herself
annoyed for some reason. Then Candace was there,
looking very attractive in the dark blue dress with her hair swept up. Bette
and she began to talk easily, as Marina
watched on. Shane‘s words ringing in her ears as
she watched the hidden touches, the slow breaking gaze.

“So did your story work out Jenny?”
    Marina
asked as Jenny walked over to her, and Jenny
nodded, sipping on a drink as she nodded.

                “Oh it was wonderful. I
haven’t written like that in months, thank you.” Jenny
    admitted and Marina
    pointed to Candace and Bette,
and said in an anxious voice.

“Do it again, with them.” Marina
commanded and Jenny looked at her oddly, and Marina
asked the bartender for a pad of paper. He quickly fetched it for her and a
pen, she thanked him. She slid the paper over to Jenny,
    and JennyMarina‘s
    eyes.
