Altered 03.56 ~*~ Hidden

            Quin sat on the bed, staring at the
book.  Rogue
star….  She sighed and
leaned back, tucking her leg under her *****, she grabbed the remote
control.  She picked up the pencil with
the busted hand.  Then in the left, well
she was left handed, she scribbled.  Lost
in its own darkness….  Then she
stopped, not able to think passed the words.

            She flicked it on, narrowing her
eyes as she changed channels.  She
settled on the music channel, wincing at the brash guitars and thought it
should be a bit smoother.  What did she
know?  Alice had said that she’d heard her play.  So she played music, not sure what she
played.

            She didn’t know anything, a nurse
named Kayla came in, smiling at Quin.

            “Ready for your battery of
tests?”  Kayla asked and Quin shrugged,

            “I guess.”  Quin offered then asked, “How long until I can
leave?”

            “You’ve got at least the better part
of the morning.  Then I see that Marty,
our ***** resident head doctor, has you scheduled to meet with your family….”

            “Family….”  Quin said ever so softly.  She bit down on the word, Helena. 
She was tall, dark hair with blue eyes and English accent?  Her mother was Peggy, reddish hair, vibrant eyes, and a
booming voice that could send her into cardiac arrest.  Daisy, the not shy young woman, who’d claimed
to be a friend.  Friend indeed, quite a
writer from the words she’d read in the small book. 

            Then there was Alice. 
The friend, she sighed.  Closing
her eyes, getting up, and sitting in the wheelchair.  The dark eyed blonde, what was it about her
that seemed to hold her attention.

            “Harlequin….Pea… booby?”  A tall dark man asked from her elbow as they
moved from the room.  Quin looked up, a
strand of her white blonde hair falling into her eye.

            “Booby?  As in *****? 
Nice…  PeaBODY, I’ve only known it for less than 24
hours and I can remember it, let’s see if you can too huh?”  Quin shot back and the man looked behind him,
Sam Vance keeping a sharp eye on the young
man.  Sam hung her head, he messed up her name,
good lord did this poor boy do anything right?

            “Sorry.  I’m Dr. David Waters. 
I’m going to be your personal physician. 
I’m going to run your labs, over see your tests and then that
woman…”  He pointed to Sam, who waved with a ghost of a smile.  “You are going to tell her how you think I
did.”  Quin made a rather awkward face
and Kayla was laughing very softly behind a cupped
hand.
