    Life As We Know It – #401 – The L Word S4

                The L-Word S4 – Life As We Know It – #401

The room was cool.  Alice felt the air hitting her warm face.  Turning to Lara, her head motioning to the empty room, “Care to come in?  Before the whole, ‘Oh my god, Helena, you’ve been disowned’ drama, I think you were about to tell me something?”

“I was,” began Lara.  A sad look crossing Lara Perkins pretty features.  “Now, I think I’ll wait until we get back to L.A.”

“No, you can tell me now.  I mean, I don’t mind if you come in, I actually prefer it,” a sexy smile emerging over Alice’s face.  The thought of having found some happiness in this shambles of Dana’s death finally brought some light to her life.

“It’s ok.  I know that the drama downstairs sort of put a damper on the evening,” shrugged Lara.  Alice rolled her coal coloured eyes, and pulled Lara unceremoniously into the room.  A giggle escaped Lara, because she truly liked being with Alice.  They’ shared a common loss, but now, they shared a common pleasure, each other.

“Tell me whatcha gotta tell me, Perkins,” said Alice.  Removing her shoes at the door and shedding the jacket.  Lara sheepishly sat on the edge of the bed.  She’d been trying, desperately, to find a way to gently break the news to Alice.  It seemed, that gently, wasn’t going to ever rear its head.  “Before you say anything, I have to tell you,” blurted out Alice.  “I think, well, I think I have feelings for you.  I mean, more than Post Dana feelings.  Like, real….”

Lara stood up, shaking her head, her hair a flaming red halo around her head.  “Stop,” begged Lara.  Instead Alice continued.

“I know how crazy this sounds, I know it!  I just thought you needed to know, I needed to tell you,” nodded Alice.

“I’m leaving L.A.,” blurted out Lara.

“Huh?” Alice replied, stunned.  Her face fell, feeling her heart dropping out of her chest and into her stomach like she’d been gun punched.  Surveying the room uncomfortably.  This certainly wasn’t how she’d planned things to go.  Sure, she’d expected Lara to be mildly surprised, but for her to be running away.
