Life Happens: America, F** Yeah
Days have gone by and i’ve barely gone
Safe on the road that speeds from your front door
I can’t turn around ’cause i long to be forgiven
“oof!” Bette nearly fell over Helena, who giggled and caught her on her back just in time.
“Shhhh!” Helena murmured, balancing the slightly taller—and rather drunk—woman.
“Why do I have to be quiet?” Bette pouted. “We’re grown women…we can have a little fun and…and…”
“And wake all the neighbors after trashing half of London?” Helena asked. She laughed, remembering Bette’s actions of the previous few hours.
“It was Elaine’s fault.” Bette said seriously. “She made me do it.” She whispered these last words, her mouth curling into a wicked grin.
“She made you throw rubbish bins at those young men?” Helena’s voice was dry. She was still trying to get Bette inside, but couldn’t quite lift her properly. Finally, she shifted her hips and Bette fell onto her back in something resembling a yoga maneuver. Helena was able to walk a few steps until they were inside, before standing straight and dropping Bette flat onto her feet behind her.
“Hey.” Bette whined when Helena walked away.
“I’m getting you water, you insane woman.” But Bette walked after her, slinging her arms around Helena waist again, before sighing and moving away to sit on the couch.
“They were homophobes.” Bette said. “And they shouted rude things at us.”
“yes, I’m aware, but did you have to take them on? Why not just walk away?” Helena asked curiously. She wasn’t quite sure, and didn’t mean to sound like she was lecturing.
“Weeell…aaaaanyway…” Bette rolled her eyes and smirked. “That Elaine is sure fun. Reminds me of a woman I went to high school with. We used to sneak out of our houses late at night and paint on billboards.”
“Artistically, or did you paint slogans on them?” Helena began to remove Bette’s shoes and jacket while watching to ensure that she drank her water.
“Both.” Bette replied.
Helena smiled. She wrapped her arms around Bette’s waist, and rested her cheek on her lap. They sat this way for a long time, while Bette sobered up slightly.

You gotta love a drunk, rowdy Bette! I’m glad the Bette-dumps-Jodi scene took place offstage; jealous Helena makes for much more entertaining subject matter. As for London vs. NY, it would take a far drearier locale (Sudbury, ON, perhaps) to extinguish the Belena hotness.
Okay, it’s taken me yonks, but I’ve *finally* caught up. Fabulous.
that is perfect!! please keep posting pleas…
Oh yeah …. ok lady, with 2 stories you’ve sufficiently guilted me into writing something, hmn … I don’t mind them being in NY I don’t think, at least Bette ditched Jodi, jealous Helena is kinda cute, darn it … they’re both cute :-D
Family, huh? Sounds like Bette didn’t need that much time or space. Jodie had been good to Bette? (And Tom was the problem? Actually the relationship between he and Jodi might have been interesting to explore.) I guess you’re doing it your way, which is fine by me, I much prefer it to IC’s nonsense. While I’m stating preferences, let me add that I’m all for B & H making a commitment, but I find wedding gowns icky. Faux princess for a day, yuck.
It was about f’n time!!!! lol..I’m just happy to see you back with one of my favorites!!! I love seeing Bette and Helena together–they are amazing together and they are made for each other. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these two ladies!!! PPS VERY SOON!!!!
OMG this chapter was really good, I already read it twice… I don’t have nothing against Jodi, if she had a relationship with Tina or Max I would probably like her… =) THANKS for this chapter helebette !!! I really loved it…
