    Life Happens: Head Over Heals

    Fingers trace your every outline

Paint a picture with my hands

Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm

Change the weather still together when it ends,

That may be all I need

In darkness she is all I see

Come and rest your bones with me

Driving slow on Sunday morning, and I never want to leave…

The stereo played in the car, playing the kind of synthetic pop which reminded them both of their misspent 20s.  Doors wide open, radio playing loudly, but the car’s passengers lounged on a blanket yards from it.  Around them were an assortment of cheeses and olives, bread and fruit, along with two bottles of Spanish wine, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.

“That first night that I spent with you, this song was playing…” Bette tilted her head to the side, listening to Tears for Fears. “We fell asleep on the couch and then you jumped my bones.”

Helena snickered, and shook her head. “Was that my fault?” Helena leaned closer, trying to remember. “We were watching television, were we not?”

“Donnie Darko…” Bette was slightly embarrassed. “I searched for a month, asking around, trying to figure out what that movie was in the background. Then I watched it…it reminded me of that night, how it was sort of surreal.”

Helena reached for an olive, but allowed its course to change when Bette opened her mouth expectantly.  She giggled, thinking that Bette was so cute when she behaved in almost boyish fashion.

Sighing contentedly, Bette lifted her arm and wrapped it around her girlfriend’s shoulders. “More.” She joked. “Feed me olives and tell me stories of Rome.”

“I don’t know any stories of Rome.” Helena held the dark red fruit with her fingertips, tracing Bette’s lips with the salty taste of it. “Oh yes I do, but they’re all very long…” She corrected herself. “And quite boring. And they have very fucking little to do with our present day realities, contrary to popular academic belief. Or at least, they should not be glorified as such.”

“Rant, rant, rant. Tell me more.” Bette opened her lips and grasped an olive with her teeth, sucking lightly on Helena’s fingertips as well.

    1. Aren’t olives green or black? maybe you were thinking of a strawberry or something. Of course, they don’t have pits, but everyone can be confused at times. Like, for example, me, who can no longer keep all your fics unconfused, but I just love em all, well except for the decapitating and what have you but no one’s perfect, and a small thing, in a Belena fic. Bette and Helena do rock! Who is Elaine? I told you, can’t keep em..straight…!!! Wouldn’t want to, actually. It’s time for my meds now..

    2. Aw! good for Tina, she should hook up with one of Helena’s old British hook-ups, British hook-ups are the best *wink* … but seriously, I go with the first comment, very cute, and I like how Bette’s this chilled out version of her former self, chilled out enough to wander about the place in just her pants (I’m allowed to use that terminology according to funnyone) although I wonder what she’ll make of it when the two lovebirds finally take their heads out of each other long enough to figure out that Tina’s also getting some nooky!! x

    3. Thank Goddess for this post. I was starting to doubt the English Muffin’s (or is it Bagel?) existence now that the divine RS is MIA on the show. Dense Hells is simply irresistible.

    4. Don’t listen to funny, Bette was not wearing any pants, just her UNDERWEAR!!! and the thin tank top. I did wonder why she was appearing dressed like that when she knew Tina was there. Who cares who Tina hooks up with, as long as she stays out of Bette’s business and relationship with Helena.

    5. Great…I’m looking for you to write a great romance for Tina!!!! Who is Elaine?? I guess I have to go backwards and check out the story…Like that Bette is comfortable in her panties and singlet…but rather inappropriate for visitors even if it is just the ex…great writing anywayz and I’ll look out for this next time/soon.

    6. Hey there…so glad your gf is there. She writes wonderfully as well. Now I went to catch up on your other stories, my god what a variety…too many for me…and I won’t read the werewolves ones but did see your comment at THE BEACHES:TiBette Redux. Thank u for your comment and I’m pleased that I was able to influence you a little to see that BeTina could work. Have a great time with sofa. Keep writing both of you..and sofa we call ’em: panties, briefs, pants, bikinis, thongs, knickers, underwear, shorts, high-cut…whatever…I’m sure Bette looks great in ’em all…Lol.

    7. Sus2K you have resurfaced. I would think you would like to see Tina being decapitated….I think we need another lesson on pants, snickers, garters, stockings, etc US/Canadian vs UK….Great update…. You need to start writing more so we don’t lose tract of your multiple story lines…..

    8. um …. I kinda thought the point to my comment was that she *was* wearing pants, only pants, since that’s what we call them *my* side of the pond ….

    9. I pretty much love everything about this story and can’t wait for the next installment. But I’m also glad to see Tina being happy for a change, maybe Elaine is the one for her, let’s hope.
