Life is all that matters – ch. 12

    Previously:

Just then Dr. Davenport entered the room.

“Morning ladies. Who is that pretty little girl?”

“It’s our daughter Angelica” answered Bette and Tina almost simultaneously.

“She is beautiful. You make a beautiful family.” the doctor commented and smiled. But then turning serious again, she added “I need to examine you, Tina.”

Bette got up and took Angelica on her arms; leaning over Tina she kissed her head and helped her daughter to do the same “Say good-bye to mommy. We will be outside Tina”. Before they left, Tina still heard Angelica one more time “Bye mommyy.”

————————————————————————————————             CHAPTER 12:  FIRST STEPS TO THE TRANSPLANT

The next week was hard but stable and slow for Tina. She was finally starting to react to the medication and the infection was being gradually solved. On the other hand for Bette the week went fast. It was hectic and busy. She divided her time between the exams and taking care of her pendent issues, already getting ready for the absence to the donation surgery. All her free time she passed with Tina that had allowed her to spend the nights with her in the hospital. She was glad that they were reconnecting in some way, not yet assessing a possibility of reconciliation, but trusting and supporting each other. She knew, however, that as soon as the transplant was done the things between them would change drastically, but Bette, on her desperation to see Tina cured, was ready to pay the price for that.

On Tuesday she went to Dr. Davenport’s office to know the results of the triage tests and the next steps in the process. Alice was with her and Kit and Caroline were outside. Unnecessary to say that both women shared the same kind of concern, their sisters.

“Well Bette, I must say that we are pretty satisfied with the first exams. You are healthy and as far as now, compatible to the donation.”

Bette and Alice couldn’t hide their emotion and stood up for a hug. They were relieved and confident for the first time in weeks. After a few moments, they regrouped themselves and resumed their positions, ready to hear what was coming next.

    5. Ah… you’re killing me… Will she say ‘no, until you tell me his name’? I think the back story they made up is very reasonable. I kind of love the doctor, so cool, so nice, so intelligent and so caring. Hope everything’s going on well with you and you could update again soon. =D

    6. Oh come on now…..don’t stop there – don’t be a tease :o)) Nice to see there is progress and the transplant is just around the corner….loves this.
