"I understand. I talked her into spending her fall break up here next week. I hope that’s okay." Alyssa said.
"That will be good for her." Bette said.
"I hope so. She needs a physical and a mental break."
"I hope it works."
"The reason I was calling is I want to get Cat’s phone number to see if I could get her to come up also."
"Okay. It’s 584-3492. Is Angelica up I would like to talk to her before we hang up?"
"No she is still napping. I can call you back when she wakes up."
"That’s okay. I’ll just see them tomorrow."
"Well I talk to you later."
"All right. Bye." Bette said.
Bette sat behind her desk. She had been unable to concentrate on anything except the key that Shannon had taken and the huge fight she had with her. It was their first of this proportion. She had never had a yelling fight with any of her kids.
She rubbed her the kink in her neck from sleeping on the couch. After Shannon stormed out She and Tina got into it again. She hated fighting. It reminded her of her childhood, of Kit and Melvin.
"Knock. Knock." Anne said standing in the doorway.
"Oh hey. I didn’t see you there." Bette said.
"You look deep in thought and tired." Anne said
"Yeah." Bette said.
"I just wanted to apologize for last night." Anne said.
"It’s not your fault. Listen we need to talk. Maybe we tried to do this same to fast." Bette said.
"I agree. I don’t want to break up your family. Last night I saw the way you and Jess and Jess and Tina communicated without speaking. You guys are her parents I just want to be her friend if she lets me. Maybe one day I can join your extended family. Jess is what is important here. I am going to move at her pace. I made the first mood and now its her turn." Anne said.
"That’s your decision, but I have to worn you she can be very stubborn." Bette said.
"I remember. I never stopped loving her and I have always thought of her as my little girl. Always will." Anne said.
"I know." Bette said.
"But she doesn’t. She and need to build a relationship without you forcing her to spend time with me." Anne said.
"Okay." Bette said.
"You need to fix your family. I don’t want it to fall apart because of me. I have split Jess’s family once and I won’t do it again. Turn on the Porter charm and do what you have to do. Now if you will excuse me I am late for a lab." Anne said leaving the room.
Bette sat behind her desk trying to figure out what to do. She got up and walked out of her office.
"Bette where are you going you have a meeting with the president of the university in 10 minutes." Caroline said.
"I am going to save my family. Cancel all my meetings and get my TA’s to take over my classes until the break next week." Bette said and continued out.

Yeah, family is important but cancel a meeting w/the President of the College that’s supposed to occur in ten minutes? Let your TAs teach for you for a week? That kind of stuff gets one fired and is , in my mind, unrealistic.

Bette will have to work very hard to win back Tina’s and Jess’s trust back. I just hope that it is not too late for Jess. Tina will come around because those two really love each other. Jess only knows Tina as her mamma and that will always be true.
You had me scared for a minute…I was like Oh No…Bette is sleeping on the couch nobody is talking to her and here comes Anne bringing comfort. Please don’t have Bette get into any trouble at work but let her fix this. Anne is right you can’t force feed Jess to her…let her come around. Jess is usually open minded about things. Once she gets time to wrap her head around this…something good might come of it. Please post soon.
Hey Charmed, Long time no comment but am back and ready to type. This is a wonderful tale that covers all the emotional bases and keeps hitting those homers right out the park. This latest thread was awesome as Bette realized some home truths. I love the naturalness of all the characters as the twins tried to sort out their mother and fought each other. Kids, eh? Anne has given Bette the necessary push and I can’t wait to see how Jess and Tina react to Bette’s response. Thank you so much for this fabulous fan fiction. Your Loyal Fan.
Bette can really get herself in some jams without first thinking of all the ramifications. Hope she can smooth things out w/Tina and then w/Jess. Tina first, because without her one love, nothing else matters.
I think by the time Jess is out of school she’ll have to go away for awhile just to have some time to breathe.
Been waiting for this story, love it you know. But, Anne needs to go. Tina must have some feelings about this. Tina has been with Jess forever, give them two more moments. Does Bette realize how much Jess Loves Tina, and vice versa? hope there are paintings of Tina/Jess. The one at the beach would be great.
Bette needs to do some deep thinking,She could lose her three older girls. NaNa jesse and Tina. She is having a hard time with Jesse as it is. She does need to get her family back together, You start at the top and work down. thanks
