“Can I go to the game with Hayden?” Jess asked.

“Yes but I want to talk to one of his dads” Bette said. Tina was still flipping the pictures.

“I can go but my mom wants to talk to your dad.” Jess said. She handed the phone to Bette.

“Okay” Jess said.

“Are you going to tell her?” Tina whispered.

“No. I am going to talk to her about boys.” Bette said.

“Now what do you know about boys?” Tina said smiling.

“Okay we are going to talk to her about it.” Bette said. Jess came in the room.

“What is it?” She asked.

“We need to talk.” Bette said.

“You are aren’t going to have any more babies are you?” Jess asked.

“No.” Bette said.

“Are you sure because the last time you guys called me in here and you and mama were sitting like that you were.” Jess said.

“We are sure.” Tina said pulling Jess onto the bed, and tickling her.

“Okay so what do you want to talk about?” Jess asked in between laughs. Tina stopped tickling her and she sat up.

“Boys.” Bette said. Jess tensed up. She knew they were about to have the talk.

“Come on you guys I already know about sex and where babies come from. We already had this conversation remember” Jess said.

“I remember, but now that your are 12 we need to talk about other things.” Tina said.

“Like what?” Jess said.

“Like sex and its consequences.” Bette said. Jess rolled her eyes and laid back on the bed.

“Babies come from unprotected sex and so do STD’s.” Tina said.

“I know all this we had that sex ed class a couple of weeks ago.” Jess said.

“We know we just want to make sure that you understand everything and answer any questions you might have.” Bette said.

“I don’t plan on having sex with Hayden if that is what you are getting too. I just meet him.” Jess said hoping that this would get her out of the conversation.

“That is not what I meant.” Bette said.

“Then what did you mean.” Jess asked.
