Kit had ended her tour on the West coast this time around and she was really looking forward to relaxing with Bette. She hadn’t told Bette that she was considering settling down in L. A. yet. She still wasn’t sure of all the details but she was very much excited about a possible business venture. The day had come where simultaneously Bette, Carmen and Shane were off for the day. Much like any other rare occurrence they spent it together around Bette’s house in front of the fireplace. Carmen had made some spicy and warm alcoholic beverage that had everyone very cozy. Carmen was sitting on the floor between Shane’s legs as she was resting back into the couch. Bette was laid out on the couch with her legs in Kit’s lap, everyone had already eaten Kit’s cooking and the drinks were hammering them into peaceful existence.
“Hey do you guys know of a place where I can get a good Baby Shower present?” Kit asked. She looked to Shane who shook her head no and Carmen was still thinking.
Bette tilted her head down to look towards Kit as she asked. “Why do you need a Baby Shower gift?”
“I’m guessing it’s for a pregnant woman.” Shane said sarcastically with her eyes still closed. To which Bette threw a small couch pillow at her and instead of dodging it she let it hit her in the face with a smile.
“Who’s baby shower babe?” Carmen asked half way listening to the conversation, she was much more entertained with the feel of Shane’s jean fabric running up and down her palm.
“Tina’s, it’s next week and I have no idea what to buy her.”
“Who the hell is Tina?” Shane asked.
“Bette’s patient Tina?” Carmen asked with a raised brow.
Carmen and Shane looked over to Bette whose eyes were just as surprised. “When did you meet Tina?”
“That same night you gave away your tickets to the show.” Bette nodded her head in remembrance. “She’s having a shower next week and I think she has everything already, but I’m not sure.”
“What are you buying for her Bette?” Shane asked.

Interesting concept. There are folks who don’r want to have children. If Tina feels so strongly why hasn’t she had an abortion as yet?]
This is a very different Tina and Bette, nothing at all like the women we know and love, at least not totally. I think somehow, thru all the turmoil of Tina’s indecision of keeping this baby, fear of becoming a mother and the responsibilities of it all, her endless love of Rick, they will become each others lifeline. Tina may not think there will never be anyone to equal her love for Rick or his for her but, as we all know she is sitting next to her right at this very moment. Do they ever need each other. Wonderful chapter. Thanks for posting.

i think all new mommies at one time or another feel overwelmed… this will pass and tina will become the mother we all no she is… and what was bette thinking saying what she said… maybe this will help them both… i see a friendship forming and who knows what after… great sytory… pps

This is a difficult situation for all involved of course more so with Tina. I wonder how this new knowledge will change Bette and Tina’s relationship.

I love the way you write their thoughts and feelings. You make it all so real. They are both in such sad places. It would be wonderful if they could end up helping each other to enjoy life again.
