Life’s Unexpected Turns Chap 35
Dana woke up the next morning when the nurse came into the room.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“It’s fine; I actually have a question for you.”
“Shoot.”
“Can I get a bag of ice for my ankle?”
“Ah yes Jess warned us about you.”
“She’s a good lady.”
“You know she got in trouble because of you.”
“Was it serious?”
“Nah just a verbal warning, I think anyone in her position would have done the same.”
“Well wrong or right it was because of her I made it in time for the birth.”
“That’s all that really matters. I’ll be back in a few minuets with your ice.”
Dana figured there would be more room for her to ice her ankle on the other bed, besides she didn’t want to wake Alice up. She hobbled over and got comfy turned and turned on the TV. The nurse came back with her ice and left again. About an hour later Alice began to stir.
“Good morning Mommy.”
“Good morning, why aren’t you in bed with me?’
“Well because I had to ice my ankle and I didn’t want to wake you.”
“What happened to you any way I never found out?”
“Well I went for a run and I stopped somewhere real quite to think, when Shane called me the second time she told me what was going on I started to run as fast as I think I ever could but you know me clumsy I wasn’t really watching where I was going and I fell off the curb.”
Alice bust out laughing.
“Well I didn’t think it was that funny.”
“I’m sorry Dana its just I can picture you doing it in my head.”
Just then the Doctor walked in
“Good Morning Ladies.”
“Good morning.” The women said in unison
“How are we felling this morning Alice?”
“I’m a little sore, but other than that I’m okay.”
“You will be for a couple of days.”
“How’s my baby boy?”
“Well there were come complications over night?”
Dana noticed Alice’s heightening panic and took her hand.
“Now I don’t want you to get upset, he did stop breathing but we ventilated him and he has been fine ever since.”

So happy to see you back! Thanks for finding time to write — I know it can be difficult at times with all the other demands on people’s time. On to the comments… I am glad the baby is doing OK. I can understand Alice’s frustration with having to leave the hospital without her child. I imagine she will be spending a lot of time there. I’m a little worried about Dana. She seems to be freaked out a bit. And I am thinking the last name change might push her a little more. I hope she can hold on and support Alice. She is going to need it with George. And how sweet of Alice to telephone George’s mom. I hope that doesn’t come back to haunt her. Great chapter, Amanda92688! Not filler-y at all. Thanks so much for the update!!
Welcome back. Hope you had a good vacation. Echo what MaGoose said. D had a full plate in front of her and she must recognize that the birth of Ethan was a precious gift. i hope she would take Shane’s advice and sort it all out with A before Ethan would return home. I love this story Amanda92688. Thank you for continuing.
